As more and more businesses are shutting down, musicians who lost their jobs are turning into live-streaming platforms to provide an alternate entertainment option for the people who are working from home. I went through some testing and I've come up with a way to teach you how to set up a basic live stream for your performances.

AoCheng!! What a beautiful, comprehensible, and awesome-ly STRUCTURED presentation. Question: Monitoring your talking or singing, do you notice "latency" between the real time sound and the headphones - - a sort of echo effect?

Hey Jeff, thank you so much for your comment. Monitoring via OBS is not recommended by me so far. The echo effect will tend to distract you from actually talking. What I suggest is that you explore the possibilities of monitoring yourself Directly from your Mixer / Interface. My Audient ID14 has an app that I install on my PC that lets me listen to myself real time. Some interfaces provide direct monitoring like the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 Hope this helps!

Hey Man! I found this very informative! I have couple of questions. As you said, i want a great audio quality for the audiences during a live streaming (singing)! Apart from internet speed and stability, you talk about audio mixers to get a good quality output. Let's say, i will go for a facebook live stream and use my laptop (Mac). And i will use a karaoke output to be hooked to the mixer. My questions are: 1. If i use an audio mixer having usb output option, do i need to use an additional audio interface (i.e. iRig Stream)? 2. If technically, the above is a repetition, will it carry any value in terms of quality output? 3. Can i give voice effects like reverb and echo through the mixer if the karaoke output is blended with vocal? i believe that's not possible and i should use separate mics to get that. 4. If i join anyone's room like streamyard, how can i cope with the OBS studio features?

In order for OBS to use your camera as a webcam, yes.

Definitely. You need to get some kind of plugins to enable logic or Pro Tools to output into OBS.

Is the Yamaha Driver an ASIO driver? OBS does not work with ASIO drivers. It will take only one mono track. Are you sure that your sound coming out of OBS was STEREO (and not summed stereo on L and R)? What you had panned on your mixboard, does it arrive PANNED?

Well, if you camera can support USB option, go for it. But, if your camera doesn't have the USB function, please use a capture card :)
