Hi, I see that you use a Mac. How do you connect the desk outs to the inputs on the Mac for OBS? do you use firewire, jack inputs or do you have another way? We are using a mac for streaming and I am interested to know. We are using presonus studiolive 32 matrix xlr out to a firestudio mobile and then firewire to mac (due to distance from desk to mac). Sometimes we have peaked the audio on the mac while OBS and the firestudio weren't. It is just a pain to have to monitor 3 audio points. Also Thanks for another great video

In this video, I’m connecting via USB. This is nice because the signal stays digital the entire way. When the streaming computer is a fair distance away, USB may not be a viable option. Great video! I do have a question...at my church we have an electric drum set direct in, and mic'd actual cymbals...if i set the cymbals channel to post fader, would turning its level zero on the house mix and have it up in the livestream mix work? Thanks in advance and God bless! =)
@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but depending on how hard the drummer plays, you may have to either boost the post-fade send a fair bit to get it in the live stream or, if you need to, you may need to set the cymbals to pre-fade if they’re naturally super loud in the house. Hope that helps :) -Chad

Great video! Can you please tell me the best way to get Audio from XAir 18 into an Atem? Currently, our church is going from the XAir using a single 1/4" into a camera, from camera to Atem 3.5 input. They said when they go directly into Atem they have bad sound quality and noise. I've done a lot of searching but haven't found and answer. I'm thinking it could be XAir is balanced out and Atem in is Unbalanced? If this is the case, how do you connect the two?

Followed your instructions and working great for Sunday service. Recently started to try mixing station app. Noticed on live stream sends there are no mute buttons on the invidual channels. I have to go back to the main mix to mute channels. Any reason why you wouldn't get mute on the individual channels?

I am trying to boost our main output sound when live streaming through Facebook. Do I need to set up an alternate bus or just send the main mix through the Precision Limiter? Is there any special routing, etc...to accomplish this? Many thanks for your help.

I suggest doing the steps laid out in the video. I wouldn’t normally suggest applying the limiter to the your main mix or else you may run into feedback issues. Hope that helps :) -Chad

Not with a post-fade mix like this. If it’s just a couple of channels and you have open channels to spare, you could double patch and have one channel for the house mix and another for the livestream with different settings. -Chad

I am using bus 5 & 6 for my livestream mix, where main LR is for my in person audience. In that configuration I am using my bus sends as post fader. I noticed that if I mute individual channels that sound is still coming out of the stream. I even tried the mute of bus 5 & 6 and it still is sending audio. Unless I pull the faders down it stops on bus sends. What am I doing wrong?

Hello in this video you are using bus for live streaming, in my xr18 i have a bus out slot 3&4, please help me to set up the routing, using our bus? Please thank you sir and God bless you more Last question, do i need a DAW?
@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gelo! Go to your routing -> Aux Outs -> Aux 3 should be routed to output Bus 3 (if that’s the mix you’re using) and the tap point should be set to Post-Fader. Do the same to Aux 4 (bus 4). No you don’t need a DAW. I’m using one in the video so I can demonstrate without having a live band hooked up :) That said, it’s easy to use the XR18 as a multitrack device for training purposes if you should ever need to. It’s an awesome little mixer! Thanks for watching and commenting! -Chad

does this way bring up the noise floor?
@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it does. May or may not be noticeable depending on how hard you push it and how noisy your signal is. However, on the opposite side of the coin, it can potentially give you better signal-to-noise ratio over your cable runs to your streaming device, so that’s worth considering too :) -Chad

I have a question, we have a xair 18 console and when we connect it via usb to a mac with logic pro x, I have to add a lot of gain to the bass guitar (active) on its input channel, almost +18db, so that the logic pro receives a signal between -18db to -12db, and on the contrary, some instruments have to lower the gain a lot (like -22db) in the mixer so that in the logic pro it is at minimum -6db because it gives me a very high gain in the logic pro, what do you recommend me to do? obviously this ruins the live sound in the room.
@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 2 жыл бұрын
Your goal should always be to set gain to your meters - I suggest around -18 to -12dbfs. Set the proper gain and then adjust your fader level for the house. If it seems that doing that makes some instruments incredibly loud in the house, that is an indication that your PA is too loud. This can be adjusted by turning down the amps, or, if that is not a real possibility, turning down the LR master for your XR18. Same goes for stage monitors. Here’s a video that can help you to adjust your input gain without ruining your existing mix :) Hope that helps :) -Chad

@AWTechTuesday
@AWTechTuesday 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrSuperTerminator by amps, I mean your amps for your speakers. Or, if they are powered speakers, the amps are built into the speakers themselves. Basically, your system may be too loud and just need to be turned down a touch so you can gain up your instruments more. That’s awesome that you’re watching from Mexico! ¡Gracias! That’s about all the Spanish I know :)
