With my Pentax 6x7, I put an empty 35mm canister with 3D printed extenders on the take up side to wing the exposed film into. That way you don't have to unload the exposed film in a changing bag or darkroom. When you get to the end of the roll you open the back and cut the film with a pair of scissors. Best to use a bulk load canister.

Ok Great video for this way of shooting. But the real convenient way is to have two 35mm canisters, one with unexposed film and one empty. I taped the film together before loading it, so I have multiple pairs ready to go. And then use the 3d printed brackets for both ends, so you can take it out once you are done shooting the roll. I use a Rolleiflex 3.5F for this method. And I got about 18 frames clear from each other per roll of 35mm.

What is the difference between cropping the 120 film in PS? It's the same amount of film being exposed per image with the same grain
@Owlbot
@Owlbot 7 ай бұрын
Nothing I suppose, but obviously it's aesthetically different (I think it looks pretty cool) and in a lotta cases 120 film is more expensive than 35 so it can be more cost effective if that's what you're trying to do. It's mostly just for fun.

Totally depends on your camera. My RZ67 gets like 10-12 if I just wind it in there, if I were to do a paper leader I could probably get another one out of it. If you have, like, a square-back type situation you'd likely get a lot more.

can someone explain how come youre not getting the full 36 exposures with it ? From my understanding, your're technically overfilling the 35mm negative? Essentially a 120 film with holes exposed like in this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/jn6VYZZprZqLhZI ) thumbnail ? I guess its for aestethics and not more exposures...
@Owlbot

@Owlbot
@Owlbot 6 жыл бұрын
@@erickpro Oh yeah so basically there's no real way to do that haha. The only true way would be to mask the viewfinder off with tape or whatever as there's not a physical way to see what you're looking at via the mirror. One thing I did to help me visualize was to take an image I already took, and then layed it over an image of my RZ67's viewfinder, and use that center circle to sort of eyeball where everything lies. So in my case, I've learned that the circle represents largely the width of the negative, and the sprockets are a bit above and below that.

Gotta use a changing back or blacked out room, open the back and rewind it in to the canister by hand. Usually I just leave the top adapter in and use that as a winding wheel.

@DaGodfaddah 5 жыл бұрын
how do you scan the images to include the sprockets? i have the epson V850 and use Silverfast
@Owlbot
@Owlbot 5 жыл бұрын
You'll need a negative holder that shows them, basically. Theoretically you don't need any holder but I know that won't play for the "focus" of the scanner. Maybe squeeze it between a couple pieces of glass? I've started 3D printing negative holders but they only work for one frame at a time.

@Owlbot
@Owlbot 6 жыл бұрын
dylan Baker I'm not sure but I'm assuming it would wind it "out" of the canister which wouldn't work, as it wants to transfer all the film to your take up spool, right? Theoretically you would want to stop taking pictures before the camera starts that process, take the back off, and wind the film back in to the canister in a changing bag. I'm unfamiliar with that camera so I couldn't tell you definitively.

Don't understand how you know how much film to advance so shots wont be exposed on each other
@Owlbot
@Owlbot 4 жыл бұрын
You don't have to think about that, the camera still advances enough film for itself. Changing the height of the negative doesn't affect the distance it travels from spool to spool, right? The mechanism that moves the film through the camera moves the same length of film regardless of what width it is.
@DanielHalteman
@DanielHalteman 4 жыл бұрын
