How to Load Your Boat on a Trailer

Do you find or imagine that loading your boat onto a trailer at a ramp stressful? You are not alone, and because your might load your boat on a trailer 1-10 times a year, you don't have a lot of opportunity to practice. We do it every single day of the boat season so we want to help you get your boat on your trailer safely. In this video we will cover:
1. Neutral is your friend. 0:40
2. Shift in and out of gear. 1:04
3. How deep should the trailer be in the water? 1:15
4. Try to "push" the boat onto the trailer and not winch it up if possible. 1:32
5. Once the boat is on the trailer. 2:00
6. Turn the engine off before pulling the boat out of the water. 2:12
7. Securing the boat for transport on the trailer. 2:21
8. Remember to remove the drain plug! 3:04

Sure works (sort of) with bunk tailors not roller tailors. The sort of is power loading destroys the landing and anyone with a longer trailor now has their trailor sunk and stuck the hole created all the power loading boats. Hit the weights, grow some muscle and winch the damn boat on. Had to add and edit. Actually pull your boat with the correct vehicle. Don't show up with a 5000+lb boat and think your lifted 2 wheel drive truck is going to pull it out when the ramp is wet and slippery.

That’s a challenge for sure. You need to get the trailer in a little further so you can crank it on. It is harder on the equipment and harder to get it loaded straight, but it can be done

If that is a private boat ramp then I will give you a pass for powering your boat onto the trailer, A lot of boat ramps have rules where you cannot power your boat on or off of your trailer! I hope I do not need to explain the reason why!

You are right, and we took for granted that people would follow any local laws/rules. We were focusing on ways to make it easier and less stressful and didn't think to mention that part. Thank you for pointing that out!
