I don't know if this was asked, but how often should you retwist your locs? And when should you retwist it for the first time?
@Janel.Lorayne8 жыл бұрын
It is all up to you. If you like to keep your retwist fresh the average amount of time between twisting is 2-3 weeks. and its the same for starter locs, some people wash and retwist after a month. I washed and retwisted within 2 weeks only because i had a strong urge to wash.

A LOCD GODDESS last question for tonight, can I just retwist w/o clips or rubber bands? And just aloe Vera gel?
@Janel.Lorayne8 жыл бұрын
If it will stay twisted without clips or bands than yes. It is trial and error, you will find out if it works for your hair once you try. For example, my hair wouldn't stay twisted without something to hold it in place until it dries. But that would work for someone with a softer texture.

Why do you think you have so much new growth? it looks like you have 5 to 6 inches of new growth. I'm asking because I'm a loctician and I would never let my clients locs new growth get that long. I just feel it causes weakness because of the heaviness of loc verses the new growth area. is that just what you prefer?
@Janel.Lorayne7 жыл бұрын
i didnt retwist frequently at the time. And i was only about 1 1/2 years loc'd. I think it just wasn't finished locing. and how do you control the amount of new growth?? retwist more?? it really wasn't bothersome at all. I have 3 inches now that just doesnt loc until it grows out more.
@hijabedforAllah7 жыл бұрын
I know for my clients, I will interlock their roots up until there is only 1 to 2 inches of loose hair between their scalp and actual loc but I know that not everyone is a fan of interlocking. Everyone is different. I tell my clients not to go longer than 2 months in between retwisting so that their base stays strong as their locs grow and become heavier. You are doing your own locs so I'm sure you can see what your locs respond to best. I was just a little worried when I saw so much new growth. But you having 3 inches now sounds much better. Your locs look as though they will be absolutely beautiful once fully locked. I can't wait to see the styles you'll experiment with. Many blessings!

Can you retwist without gel? When you retwist, doesn't it unravel? Doesn't it sweat out after exercise? Lol...questions!
@Janel.Lorayne7 жыл бұрын
Kat Kat I retwisted without gel my last re twist for the first time. My results were basically the same. Nd yea they unravel within a weekend a half to two weeks one by one. When I sweat it's done! If I put it in a tight ponytail they will survive, gotta wait for my hair to dry before I take it done lol
@katkat99157 жыл бұрын
A LOCD GODDESS , then I'm confused, how does it loc with a re twist? I interlock and am thinking about retwisting...but I'm pretty active and will sweat it out in a heartbeat!
@Janel.Lorayne7 жыл бұрын
As long as it not completely loose it will loc. when it unravels its not completely coming loose. It still holds the shape from when I twisted but its not as tight.
@Janel.Lorayne7 жыл бұрын
Some do completely unravel but It will still loc if i dont twist it again, kind of like free forming. Im not detangling it so its still forming.

why do people with locks comb the roots it makes no sence to whole idear of locks is for it to tangle?

I used to use a comb to make it neat but for me it looks the same if I comb it or not. I decide to stop combing mainly because I got locs just so I wouldn't have to brush or comb and I felt as if it ruins the locking process or takes longer than it should if you're always combing it.
