HOW TO locate FISH from the beach SURF FISHING

With the Spring Pompano run slowing down along the Florida Panhandle, it’s time to adjust tactics by targeting other species of fish. In this video, we target Southern Kingfish, aka Whiting. These fish are active close to shore, are scrappy fighters and excellent table fare featuring tasty white flaky meat. You are first I’ve seen trying to specifically fish for whiting. So you were looking for a deep hole or trench in front of you. We’re you using frozen or fresh shrimp or something else? I was down in fort Pickens Friday as well it was very choppy. Thanks for sharing think I saw you fishing out at fort Pickens a couple Saturday mornings ago. I was out with Tony mr fish gum

Hello Wesley, of course I remember meeting you. We were looking for a hole - it was difficult due to the number of people at the beach during a holiday. Saw this hole and gave it a try - had to move the baits around a bit until we found the whiting. Thanks for supporting out channel!

Do pensacola/navarre bait shops sell live sand fleas in the summer? Heading down there soon. Great video btw! Lots of awesome fish catches!

Gulf Breeze Bait and tackle usually has live fleas available. They are easy to catch at sunrise and sunset. I’ll have to check on Navarre bait shops.

In the “hole” we used mostly shrimp and a few small sandfleas - for the 12/13’ rods a mix of sandfleas,FishGum and FishBites.
