Just turned 28. I spent all my previous skiing experience in the trees and drops. Then I had a kid and stopped skiing. I have the privilege of night skiing this season at least, which the only thing to do at night, really, is hit the park. Hopefully my old man body doesn’t shatter. Anyway, this made much more sense to me once I saw the skiing footage. I think you can sum it up by saying, apply pressure with your front foot in the opposite direction of your momentum. Super excited for this season now.

Super helpful vid. I just started learning rails this year and I have a feeling this is really gonna help me with my 270 dismounts and other stuff I'm working on. Do you use this for switchups on rails or is that mostly just an upper body rotation with a little hop? Also I only ever grind right foot forward. Should I aim to get to like half and half with each foot forward on rails or do most people hit these features the same side every time? I feel like I'm gonna have to learn to get on with my left foot forward when I start learning switchups next season

Does the heel and toe pressing correlate to which way you want to spin front side or backside or is it just to reposition you on the rail?
@TheBagOTricks Жыл бұрын
Both! Pedaling will help you lock in, but a heel press pedal will help front side spins and toe press will help with backside!

Hey so I just started getting into doing rails should I slide on a rail on my edge or can my skis be flat on the rail
@dparkjh3 жыл бұрын
Don't attempt to go on your edge cause you'll slip out and die. Try to have your skis flat, but in reality you will still be on your edges. But try to make them flat

Whats your recommendations when it comes to you back foot slipping of to one side or another
@samlobinsky3 жыл бұрын
If you are sliding right foot forward and your back foot is slipping off the right side of the rail you need to push your front foot heel into the rail. This will stop the back foot from sliding off the right side of the rail. If your back foot is slipping off the the left side of the rail you're most likely not getting on the rail at a full 90 degrees. If you're getting on the rail correctly you can try to put your front foot toe down which will help your ski from slipping off the left side of the rail. Hope this helps.

Great video! Last season was my first tries at rails and I kept slipping onto my side on the rail any tips? Should I just try to lean more forward? It just feels very unnatural. Also I’m a right handed guy right foot or left foot forward?
@jeandavidyeah88403 жыл бұрын
For the foot forward, go with what feels natural for you. A good tip that help with falling to the side is trying to look at the end of the rail or the horizon.
@carsonlisowe23313 жыл бұрын
@@jeandavidyeah8840 thanks! But when I fall it’s basically as soon as I land on the rail I don’t even get a chance to look ahead.
@samlobinsky3 жыл бұрын
@@carsonlisowe2331 Try to be more gentle when getting on the rail. You're either hitting the rail with too much impact causing you to fall off or you're not get onto the rail at a full 90 degrees. Just keep working on it. All it is is trial and error. One key thing to remember is that you should try to hit the rail with as little impact as possible. This will allow you to gain full control as soon as you get on the rail.
@saucy64403 жыл бұрын
just keep going for it almost everyone starts that way. one huge tip that helped me was stare at end of the rail entire time and lean forward a bit and balance the feet
