I do real estate photography and you wouldn't believe how many times I bump the Aperture Wheel knocking my Aperture from F8 to F11 and never notice it until my shoot is done and then I have to reshoot the rooms where the change to effect. The company I do the photography for requires everything to be shot at F8. Your video is a game changer for me so Thank You!

OMG this is exactly what I needed! I often shoot silent in locations that have LED lights and the A7R3 does not sync when shooting silent so I have to manually dial the exposure time... if I select the wrong time, the LED refresh rate will create banding. Sorted!

I find myself using the lock the controls constantly when shooting in the studio. I don't want to accidentally bump something and see the ISO or Shutter Speed change. It works like a champ for me and now I don't have to worry about my exposure changing when shooting tethered.

I agree. This function works so dang well to help prevent iso, shutter or even slight aperture changes. You dont realize how much your fingers touch the dials in the middle of the shoot. However I never have the issue of any of the other buttons being pushed and messing things up for me. This feature works very very well for the dials. If you were to lock absolutley everything then you still couldnt navigate around making neccessary adjustments when needing without having to stop and hold the fn button etc. So this seems to work well for what it does. Not sure why kevin feels this doesnt really work still.

I want to lock the wheel when in Auto ISO. Does not help a bit

@@KdubLAI haven't used it on the job yet but see it being a major issue and yes seems like this would have to be the resolver in a messy problem.

Great video! i'll give this a try, i have had the same issue along with many others when shooting with the Sony, (coming from a Nikon D4) i was really frustrated with this body, and actually didn't use it for the first 2 year i had it.

AGREED! That is ridiculous. They need a proper lock!

Believe it or not I came looking for this feature as I sometimes change the shutter speed accidentally while filming handheld, super annoying especially when I only notice once I stop recording. Thank you!

Sony has not yet fixed this for teh A7R4. It's crazy annoying shooting an event and having to reset your settings each time I raise my camera to my face. It's crazy. Thanks fo rthe video anyways.

Also as I'm brand new to this camera, a73, is it mostly just the main wheel that gets bumped would we say, or people find it easily happens in other areas too? Having the handy dial to adjust ISO seems so convenient, but if thats the culprit im tempted to reset that one if doable to somewhere else, or just lock that wheel 🤔

Yes, totally agree, keep hitting the ISO because the button is poorly placed, probably just going to go back to Canon

I thought I was the only one facing this. Here is the solution. Go to the Custom Key settings (on A7iii it is the "camera2\8th screen\top menu item then page 2) and turn the LEFT, RIGHT and DOWN buttons to OFF. Ypu can find "OFF" by scrolling to the 19th and very last menu for assigning functions to the buttons. I access the drive mode and ISO only through the "bump proof" Fn Menu. It's a lousy compromise but it sure beats swearing at your camera and the useless software engineers who obviously don't use the cameras as working professionals and don't care. I sold my Nikons and Canons as they took 5 years to decide to take mirrorless seriously, but never encountered anything as inane as Sony's menus and lack of intelligence in programming them. The lenses are fantastic, but the bodies....oh my.....

Hundreds and hundreds of RAWS to toss because it without warning starts bracketing on me, because the camera is so small and dainty that I can't pick it up without pressing something. Having my doubts now using Sony as a field camera. Bad design.

It's really annoying thing. Sony can't just get it fixed like how Canon does it. The only thing I can do is to disable the customised buttons for pressing left, right and down. Whoever designed this is an engineer rather than a photographer.
