Would be interested to see you double cut with the rotary then a third cut with cylinder to see what the difference is ive always used roller rotary but apart from a massive antique ride on cylinder i used for a crotchet lawn so thinking of buying a small cylinder just to use at home. Followed all your advice and lawn is FINALLY coming back through i was in shorts when I scalped and seeded it then following week dropped to 2⁰ so almost a month for seeds to germinate now but theyre up the shade of green is mental compared to neighbours.

Hi Dan, completely renovated my lawn last year. Including 20 tonne of root zone, seed and Fields No4. But disaster has struck. Totally overrun by meadow grass. So I’m guessing I’ll have to start all over again by scalping it, seeding and Field No4. Any recommendations on which seed to use? We spoke a few weeks ago, I live in Ramsbottom.

Rank amateur here/ I seeded 3 weeks ago in a fairly shaded back garden, no fancy products. Noiced very fine sprouts about 12 days in. It's improving but the section that is shaded by a shed most of the time is lagging a bit. I had blackbirds on it constantly pecking out worms! They don't care about the seeds.

If you watch and listen closely, he's taking the lawn down in small increments. Starting long with the rotary. And then progressively shorter with the cylinder.
