For anyone making this that’s petite, I’m 5ft tall, so this hat was the first I’ve found in all of her tutorials that was too long for me. I worked 10 repetitions, to 16cm or 7in, then did 4 rows at the base instead of 5. I used a bulky 6 alpaca yarn. Adding this to help anyone wanting to size it down & also to remind myself if I make another one! lol Great Hat, thanks for another wonderful design!

I just finished this hat for my young Grandniece (on a 36 peg loom and #6 yarn)...turned out beautiful! I don't know how to upload a photo...so, I guess you'll just have to take my word for it :) I watched the whole video first, then went back and knitted the hat. What a fun, new idea to knit from the top down! I love how the bind off looks when you roll up the brim. Thanks again for another awesome pattern!

How was the fit from the 36 peg loom? Tight? I used a 40 peg, & it was a good snug fit. That surprised me, as brimless on the 40 is usually looser for me.

What a beautiful pattern. It's great to see a different pattern for hats that i haven't seen before. I 'bulk loom knit' for the homeless and other places in need and have to find patterns that are relatively easy and fast. This is the one! Thank you so much for posting. I imagine this would make a gorgeous blanket also. Hmmmmm...

Fun hat to make! For people having a hard time because the bind-off is too tight: I suggest ignoring the directions for the bind-off in this video. I ended up using the Hacked Super Stretchy Bindoff from Loomahat and it worked out MUCH better.
@dorgana6815 күн бұрын
Not only it's waaaay too tight, its damn near impossible for me to do this on my loom, eventhough I went step by step by starting and pausing and repeating the video frame by frame. It just does not work for me and that completely baffles me.

Wow! Just did my 1st try at this pattern & it came out great! I don't like the look of the extra purl in the bonnet of the hat (or any other hat) so I had to make some adjustments in the cast on, as I use a 40 peg loom for a totally symmetrical outcome. Working from the top down really makes for a snug fit for the brimless edge, which for the style of the piece, is excellent! Thanks so much for sharing this!

I’m a bit confused. What is the final length of the hat? Is the 7.87” what it should be after doing the repeat row 5 and 6’s. When you say you did 14 rounds is that actually 28 times around the loom as in a row 5 and row 6 would be one round?

So I just watched this video, when you say 14 repetitions of rows 1-6; then 5 more rows of the 5 th row repeat. (2P, 1K, 1P, 1K) So does this mean it’s 19 rows all together making this longer then the 7.87 inches? Or are these last 5 rows already added into the total of 14?

Great looking rib hat but way too confusing! I used small dot stickers on my loom so that I can keep my pattern straight. I'm in the middle of making it. My knit stitches are getting so tight... so I resorted to not wrapping them. Do you alternate from wrap vs. not wrapped for rounds 5 and 6? Is there any tips on how tight or how loose you make your purl stitch? Anyone else having these issues?

Can this be made on a smaller gauge 54 peg loom with worsted #4 weight yarn ?
@Tuteate2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tina! Yes, you can, I think it will come out lovely and delicate :) BTW, as you will see, this video works a 5-stitch pattern. In case of a 54-peg loom, the only difference is that, at the end of the round, you will have to work just 4 stitches of the pattern. In my case, on the other hand, I had 41 pegs, so I always had 1 extra peg at the end of the round

I have got rows 1-4, will you or some one explain row 5, it seems as if it changes repetitions mid way the row. Row 6, I think is : 2 purls and 3 e-wraps. The last one is always a purl-on each row. Correct? But row 5 seems for some reason, I get lost. HELP! 🤔
@pattymullin85154 жыл бұрын
For Row 5 and 6, all you need to do is change the manner in how you do the knit stitch. You will now do an ewrap knit stitch instead of the uwrap stitch knit. So, Row 5 is purl 2, ewrap 1, purl 1, ewrap 1. Then Row 6 is purl 2, ewrap 3. Those two rows are for the body of the hat. The reason I know this is that I am currently sitting at my kitchen table and have replayed the video many times as I also got confused! The only change is in how you do the knit stitch. Have fun - it's a gorgeous pattern. We can do this👌!!

I think there are some extraneous instructions at 8:19, or else 'wrap before every knit stitch' needs to be clarified. The video shows rows 3-4 and 5-6 as being just a repeat of rows 1-2, so it's not really a 6 row pattern but a 2 row pattern. What on earth does 'wrap before every knit stitch' mean?? The video doesn't show any wrapping before those stitches, they are just purled like in rows 1-2. Also, that drawstring cast on doesn't work for me, so I would just knit a brim and start at the bottom with the stitch pattern.
@seowen3 жыл бұрын
She switches from a U knit to an e-wrap. So 'wrap before every knit' means use the e wrap (it is a looser knit so more suited for a hat whereas the u knit for the border makes it tighter.) Hope this helps. 😁
@jlwoodford2 жыл бұрын
Didn't turn out on the brim as well. Way to tight. Use to the brim starting on the loom versus on the end. Seems the hat should have been reversed on the ends. Not sure why, not use to the style of cast on. Will do again but with an alternating purl and ewrap versus a simple knit which makes it much tighter. Will give to my 11 year old niece or use as a planter cover. Love the patten though.
