I don't really think so but I'm not sure. I'm in the process of taming my two budgies and they were making slow progress (being able to step up and stay on my finger for a bit longer) and recently they seem to have become a bit more skiddish and are running away much more.

If you yell at the budgie, it will usually take that as a challenge, or a game, or in the worst case it will think you’re a threat, so if you really don’t want it to screech, you could try making calm sounds that are familiar to it, or you can try to calmly say “No.” while looking at it directly, but the second option is more likely to work when the budgie is still young :}

take things slow, the bird needs to get use to your voice, movements, etc... depending where you got it, it could of lost trust in hands for example if it was grabbed a lot, and showing it your hand with slow movements constantly can help, I have a bird that i've had for a little over 2 years I think and he never got use to handling but he would interact with me from a distance, (cause he was abused and is terrified of hands, and all man small and big) and if the bird bites you do not react or pull away, soon the bird will understand biting does not help, and it will hopefully stop the biting.

I agree with that word TRUST. Once they lost trust in you, it is very difficult for them to regain their trust in you. And yes, spending a lot of time is what they need. That's my biggest problem because I can't spend that much time as I'm working outside. Though, my babies knew that too. The best thing is to greet them in the morning while you give their food. And greet them again when you arrived from work outside. Then bid goodnight when it's time for them to sleep. In that way, once they are used to that routine, they will even call your attention when they are sleepy and ready to close their eyes. That's how my budgies are doing.
@koalakrys27614 жыл бұрын

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this channel! Thing is, I bought two budgies for my 12 year old daughter's birthday last August. Well, my mother took my daughter out to buy her a bday gift and came home with a budgie! lol They told me that she had another budgie in the cage with her at the store that was supposedly her sister SOO i called the store RIGHT AWAY and told them i was on my way to buy her so they could be together. The girl at the pet store ended up telling me that they (the two budgie sissy's) had been together since they were born! I was SO HAPPY i made the decision to go back to get "Bluebell's" sissy, "Bonita aka Bonnie"!!! They LOVE one another!!! I REALLLLY hope someone reads this HAHAHA So i actually didn't intend to say all of that. I will add that my daughter ended up regretting getting the bird/bird"S" & I ended up falling in love with them, lol. Needless to say, they are now mine!!! ;) Ok, so what i was initially wanting to say was that when i brought the 2nd bird home (BlueBell's sis) she was in a little box that the store put her in. I was hoping i'd be able to gently take her out and put her in the cage as i did her sister; HOWEVER, that didn't happen. She ended up flying about the room. That was okay BUUUT i was already late for an appointment (remember i left when my daughter arrived home with the one bird and told me that they left her sister all alone back at the petstore...hence my immediately leaving and going back to the petstore to purchase her and bring her home. I didn't want to take the chance of someone else purchasing her AND i didn't want them to be separated for any longer!!! ANYWAY! It was NOT good that i was late because it caused me to get stressed when she was flying about the room and scared of me. I know she had to feel my anxiety because i was so nervous about the whole situation that my anxiety had me shaking. Not an anger shake, but just like a nervous/ worry shake. Anyway..I was SO worried that she was picking up on my anxiety ect and that it was making her even more nervous and scared as well. It was just awful because i was trying to hard to mentally calm myself and talk in a soft sweet voice to her. I constantly approached her VERY slowly, quietly...if i did speak i did ever so gently but poor little girl was scared and who could blame her?!!! I ended up getting her but it was with my hand but she took her beek and really clamped down HOWEVER when she did it literally did not faze me nor did i try to make her stop. I actually allowed her to stay like that until i got to the cage and allowed her to hop in herself. Good thing was that all took place in my daughters room so everything was close and her cage was right there so it's not like i had to walk a long way with her like that. ANYWAY!!! (i've said "anyway" a million x's already, i know! lol) To this day, even though it has only been almost 7 months, Bonnie is still scared of me where as Bluebell (the girl my daughter brought home first whose transition to the cage went VERRRY smooth) is not. Thing is, i say she is NOT BUUUT they still have a hard time trusting me. :( (crying face) I love them SOO much and they are just soo precious and innocent little things, ya know. They are relying soley upon me to take care of them properly and i feel like i just 100% failed Bonnie by the way i handled getting her into the cage. Literally...i don't want her to always see me as the enemy, ect. ya know? I will place a chair in front of their cage and just lean back and relax in it...i will read to them and i also sing to them. It's actually really sweet because when i sing the ABC's gently to them they ALWAYS close their eyes. Sometimes, i notice that they will only have one eye shut and the other one is still open!!!! I'm doing my best to gain their trust although it has taken a long time. I go into their cage VEERRRY slowly with my hand/arm to change out their things and they don't go crazy flying around like they used to. Well, it was mainly Bonnie who did that and i think it caused Bluebell to get scared too?? I dunno...But the good news is they now are very still. I play your video's to them when i'm out and other budgie video's of budgie's just chirping and being budgies. They LOVE Cookie and i notice that when my daughter and i are in deep conversation that Bluebell will start talking a bit like Cookie does in his videos but when we stop talking she stops! lol It's almost like she's talking with us!!!! I have a question if anyone has even read this and if so got THIS far because i've typed a friggin book!!! lol I've bought them a new and bigger cage. I tried opening the door to the other cage, then, opeing the door to their cage, THEN placing the cages right up against one another so the openings would meet and they could just hop into the other cage BUUT they won't move...How can i transition them over to this other cage without making them upset or stressing them out???!!! Thanks for reading IF anyone did! haha!

Hey Alen! I'm really sorry that its been a long time a long time that I have commented on your videos. Ita been hard moving to a completely different country,home,and environment. But! Like I said in my last comment! I will still support you. I also said that I would share MY budgie story! :D We got our first budgies on the start of 2019. One was white,the another one was blue. One was female and other male. I named the white one Rose (Female) my brother named the blue one Zephr (Male). Everyting was fine at the beginning. My mum takes them on the table in the back yard to clean their cage,or to talk with the other birds outside. Rose was always trying to escape. She was always trying to bite the top corner of the cage. Zephr was pretty calm. Expect outside. He would go crazy and flap around the cage like Rose too. Whenever we left them inside home alone,whenever we would come back they would leave seeds EVERYWHERE. I would have to clean it up. 😂 The thing is,I would have done my research before getting them,right? I would have prepared everything for them,right? No. I didnt even know ANYTHING about budgies. I thought they were just some cute little birdys to play with. We only bought them because they were 25$. I really regret that. Soon,I started getting more into budgies. I started to research and watch budgie videos. And thats how I found this channel! I go to check if you've made a new video every day. I love watching the videos you made with your adorable budgies. Anyway,everything was fine until one night. It was a normal day. My mum would leave them out around 6,and by that time it would already be dark in Australia. My mum cleaned the newspaper under their cage,and when back in to get new ones. But what she didnt see its that the cage door got stuck open,so...by the time she came back,they were gone. I was really upset. I ran to my room,locked myself,and cried. I was always hoping that they would come back,but as more days passed I was starting to lose hope. My parents would put out their cage and put food in it. But they never came back. By that time,I already accepted the fact that they arent coming back. I soon realized that I dont think that they even WANTED to be pets. They wanted to go outside,with the others birds. I told myself that they would be fine,it was their dream to go outside. I knew they were happy outside. So I moved on from them. I'm still watching other budgies videos,but mostly YOURS Alen. I love watching see your budgies grow and see this budgie tale of yours. All of these tips will for sure help me next time. My parents said that we woule get new budgies soon here in Mexixo,to remind me of Australia. So,there you have it. I really wanted to share this,and I finally have. At the start,I wanted to but I didnt have the confidence to. I didnt really watch you or have enough confidence to talk to you. But now,that I have seen your amazing videos more and more,I started to support you. Keep taking care of your budgies! I hope they will grow to be lovely,healthy,happy budgies! ❤❤❤

They aren't fully tame and I don't think they ever will be, but they have already come farther than I expected them to and it's wonderful. I love my little companions. I remember having 5 parakeets and they would take turns, daring to each other, to fly on my shoulder. 2 of them chicken out and lost their little game. Then they would have random meetings on the floor, in circle formation. Probably gossiping about my family. They would also race each other in the hallway. 2 at a time and then the other 3 would see the 2 take off on their feet running. Just like that they took turns. Then another game they would play is climbing to the top of the curtains. They would be in position and wait for the other birds to line up at the bottom of the curtains and went for it. Using their beaks and feet. There was one that always cheated and flipped it's wings to "climb faster". I missed them. They all flew away when my mother decided to clean their cage outside.

❤🐦This explains a lot. Petsmart trimmed their wings before I brought them home (trauma). The girl said they were both males. They are a male and a female. It seems my bonding with them has been terminated. We'll see how it goes in the future but my chances for further bonding seem slim. They are happy and they are curious little cuties but letting me get near seems out of the question for now. I'm learning a lot about these adorable birds!🐦❤

I’ve had my budgie for almost a year now and when I got him we got another budgie as well they were from the same family and same breeder. But when we bring them home one was hovering over the other and the bird that was getting hovered on was laying down and never went on his perch. Then the one that was hovering over the other died. And the one that was still alive got better and ate ,drank ,played and went on his perches. But if I put a boy budgie baby or not in the cage will they fight?

I found out that bugdeies are great to have to talk to if you have problems in your life. Like today I was having a huge argument with my mom and later when I went into the back yard to get some alone time I took my bigde her name's lily and she cheered me up and listened to my problems. It's almost like we both understood each other.

I got a male for my female Lily, instead of losing her, the male (which was already 1yr old when I got him, and untamed) learnt from her that I was good to be around, when they bounded the male instantly started flying to me and trusted me with zero effort... same with my couple of cokatiels but I adopted them already old, as soon as the male accepted me, the female started too, and everytime he flies on me or come close she just does the same, I'm excited to see when she will come to me first, even when the male is not around

Here’s a question for you. My babies have those metal rings on their legs. I have noticed my female picking at her’s, not so much the male. Be occasionally. Without losing their trust, what would be the best way for me to remove those. I don’t want their legs to get damaged. They will fly around my head and not to shy with. My female will perch on my arm occasionally but not so much the male.

I'm not sure if anyone knows what happened, but my female pregnant budgie recently died after suddenly and heavily bleeding from her mouth and nose. I have three other budgies and do not want this to happen again. She had plenty of food vitamins and fresh water. Can somebody please tell me what happened?
@Tonatsi4 жыл бұрын
Darina Trujillo-Ravinger you should get an autopsy. My guess is aspergillosis (a fungal tumour) around the lungs, hence bleeding around the mouth and nose. It’s also possible that a freak occurrence caused the pregnancy to cause pulmonary embolisms. I can explain further in detail, but an autopsy is the best option, since there are so many things that could go wrong you need to be absolutely sure. Aspergillosis is also aided by a weakened immune system that can be caused by the stress of pregnancy. If your female budgie was too young (for example Australian cockatiels have a starter age of 2 years) or had already had a clutch within the last year then she might have been suffering from a vitamin deficiency, since they can only absorb so many minerals each day, regardless of how many are available.
@lukas-kevynmuller66974 жыл бұрын
@@Tonatsi I guess an autopsy might be a bit late, since the comment is a few days old and pet owners tend to bury their pets. Tho some can't let go and keep them in the freezer for years which is pretty fucked uo

Would you say buying a younger budgie would be easier to train? Or is getting a somewhat older bird still the same?
@Smo3324 жыл бұрын
well, first off its best not to get them from a petstore, theres many reasons why but if your petco/ petsmart is an actual GOOD one, then still the bird has been grabbed, and could've already lost trust in humans completely therefor making it even harder to tame and interact with the bird. If you got for example a young but old enough to have a home (6+ months old) that was handfed, then got bonded with it, it really just depends on the birds past, and what its experienced, if it hasn't had any truamitizing experiences it could be rather easy to tame more then others who might've had horrible experiences, it really just depends.

Hoodie wearer 73 It isn’t, don’t worry! Like Humans, Budgies can get angry or nervous because something is bothering them. For an example, you are sleeping and someone rushes into your room, turns on the lights and starts stomping loudly; that would be a big nuisance, right? Well, if you bother a Budgie when it’s eating, trying to sleep or is being bothered by something near him, he could (almost every time indeed) bite or screech loudly Depends on the case, you can do various things, like leaving the budgie alone (when he was trying to sleep, for example), or stay next to the cage if you understand the problem is not caused by you, and wait until he calms down These are tips based on my experience, my Budgie is 6 (almost 7) Years old and he has a marvelous bond with him, even though I often can’t let him out of the cage he loves me and I love him. It’s just a factor of understanding how our budgie feels! I Hope my tips were useful! ;}
