Started keto this January. Had to take 3 bp pills daily but "forgot" to take them a couple of days in a row a couple of times but measured on a regular basis. Bp is in the 120s /80s most of the time, and even lower when I'm relaxed and not running around. Also, I lost 40 Ibs so far. How do I tell my doc that I don't need the pills anymore🤔??? Thank you so much Dr. Berry, you are my hero❤️

I had to switch Doctors to find one who understands Keto/Carnivore diets, I'm down 100lbs so far. When I follow the diet closely my diabetes goes away and my BP lowers to a normal range. When I cheat around the holidays, blood glucose and BP go back up. I use Real salt and just salt to taste. Remember you pay them for a service the Doctors don't pay me to see them, and thats how I treat them. Politely.

@@sdolsay Congratulations on your achievements 🎉. I hope I can reason with mine coz I'm actually very pleased with him. Haven't talked to him about keto yet, wanted to show him the results first, so he wouldn't be able to talk me out of it. Now there's no way he could 😁. Maybe he'll be on board but the thing with the bp pills... He won't be too happy I experimented on myself🙃. Here in Germany, we thankfully don't have to pay for our doctors and only very little if medication is prescribed (5€/med),due to our health care system. If you lose 40 pounds, your blood pressure is going to go down and your doctor is going to reduce your medication, or eliminate it completely, since it seems your blood pressure is normal now without the medication. Go see him. Listen to what Dr Berry said at the end, here!

I am 67 years old and was diagnosed with Hypertension (BP = 179/130). Doctor wanted me to start meds, I said I needed to do some research. I came across your videos on youtube and started watching them. I started Keto / Carnivore 4 weeks ago, went from eating 3-4 meals per day (high sugar, high carb) to only eating 1 to 2 meals day (sated by the red meat, bacon, eggs, salmon). I also eliminated all processed foods, pizza, sweets, soda, alcohol, grains, fruits (except for blueberries). I had my BP checked this morning because I was feeling dizzy. BP was 117/74!!! I had it checked again, 120/77!!! My BP has not been this low since I was in college (1973) running Track and Cross Country. This convinced me that my problem was just as you stated, I've been killing myself slowly with my high sugar, high carb diet for 60 years! I was also experiencing tingling in my feet (pre-diabetes) and enlarged prostate. The tingling is almost gone in my right foot and my prostate must be shrinking as my urine stream is stronger. This is all on the level, no BS. I've always felt that the western diet is to blame for most of our illnesses. Thanks for showing me a new way to eat and salvage my health. I've also been active most of my life, either running 3-5 miles per day or cycling 20 miles per day. Obviously that wasn't enough. You're a smart guy, thank you for sharing your research and knowledge.

Absolutely right bro. Not just western, eastern, Indian and all diets are full of carbs and sugars. It’s just how we were conditioned ever since Hunter gatherer days were over, people started cultivating grains to find cheap and easy ways to fill oneself.

Great advice Dr Berry! My mother truly believed in the low salt, low cholesterol, low fat dogma that was the 1950s, 60s and 70s. She raised me not to cook with salt or add salt to my foods. Nothing said about sugar or other carbs and I was the poster child then of the overweight carb addicted person who just got bigger and bigger as time went on. I did a lot of reading and decided in 2019 to try the keto/low carb diet as a last resort before I was too sick to live anymore. The change was amazing. After packing on weight for 40 years I am still a work in progress but I lost over 130 pounds and am amazed at how good food tastes with salt and without sugar clogging up my life. I love listening to your videos as you explain things where everyone can understand them.

Cardiologist's protocol to take blood pressure: 1. Take a.m. BP at the same time each day before eating breakfast or drinking coffee, with empty bladder, sitting, feet flat on the floor. Use left arm, rested on a stable surface. Rest for a couple of minutes after placing cuff on arm before activating monitor. 2. Take p.m. BP in essentially the same manner, but at least two hours after eating. 3. Record your readings to share with your doctor, especially if you are prone to white coat syndrome at the doctor's office.

#1 way I discovered recently to lower your blood pressure, is to walk every day, two miles or more. Try this: Don’t exercise for two days, then take your blood pressure on the third day. Then walk two miles minimum per day, at a moderate pace, for two days and then take your blood pressure the next day. You’ll see a huge difference. Definitely do the diet thing also, but get out and get some exercise. Get the blood flowing. Of course, follow your doctor‘s instructions on exercise and don’t overdo it.

@@MommaLousKitchen You can work up to two miles and more. Just take it easy as you go and consult with your doctor if you have any issues. If you walk up a small mountain/hill, say, maybe 400 feet of vertical rise, you’ll get a good workout and if you come back in two or three days, you’ll find it gets much easier the second, third and fourth times. Just pace yourself and don’t try go faster than your ability, or keep up with someone faster. Cheers!

Two years later after really studying the issue I realized that I have been suffering from normal procedures that cardiologists depend on. I am 78 and can no longer stand the pain of statins I had been taking for twenty years or the low blood pressure. I have been studying supplements and nutrition plus other opinions online. Since quitting statins I feel much better and fully alive again. I take a lot of supplements but at low doses hoping to stay well with my wife for many more years.

THANK YOU, DR.BERRY, FOR ALL YOU DO!!! I'm a 49 year old 290lb. male, who was eating the Standard American Diet (SAD) and on no meds yet. My blood pressure has been creeping up for years, and every time I went for a wellness visit, the doctors would say, " That's natural as you get older." (Essentially, waiting to pass a point so I could be prescribed a pill) a week+ ago, I checked my BP, and it was through the roof 160/103! My family wanted me to go in to get meds. I didn't have a family doctor, so during my search I implemented your lessons : IF, OMAD, keto diet, cut out all sugars and carbs ( minus some veg) and started taking some D3, Magnesium, and Potassium. 1 week later, I'm down 10+ pounds, and my BP has gradually been creeping down (now at 128/92). Your lessons work! In the week I have been implementing these strategies, the hardest part was breaking the habits of old ways of eating. That lasted about 3 days. I experienced headaches during the first 4 days, but I attribute that to going cold turkey on caffeine (was a daily triple shot espresso and Mt Dew drinker). About 4 days in, my inflamation dropped so much that my knees and hands no longer hurt, and it doesn't hurt to squat down anymore! (WHAT?!?!) For anyone who's considering - Just Do It! It's very empowering to be in control of your own health. Again, thanks, Dr. B..... NOw I'm heading over to sign up on your patron page for saving me and the $ I am saving by not buying prescriptions!

However when my blood pressure reaches what they think is optimal I feel light-headed and start feel like I'm going to pass out. I have been saying this to them for years. I started to just take half of that amount. I've always told them my grandfather also had really high blood pressure and live to be 85 and when he died it was a blood clot in his knee from a replacement surgery from an old WW2 injury.

Diagnosed with congestive heart failure and A-fib. At the start of the diet, my BP went down drastically so that I was able to get off all but one of four BP meds and the one was cut in half. Starting in December, my BP started going back up and I am now on three of the original four BP meds. Taking the electrolyte drops plus other potassium, magnesium and get lots of salt. Getting a lot of health benefits, but lower BP isn't one of them as of now.

Added: all my labs are good, but BP continues to go up, even with added levels of BP meds - now the highest it has been. Thyroid panel results are right down the middle as is testosterone. Yet I am always fatigued and often cannot make it more than a block or two without having to rest. Electrophysiologist ups the BP meds, won't do an ablation procedure to try to treat the afib, but wants to implant a pacemaker to try to "control" the afib without treating the cause. About ready to fire him. My PCP agrees with me.

While playing 3-4 times a week a couple hours at a time, my bp was 120 over 70 with a pulse of 55 bpm. After the knees went, even with exercising 5 days a week, my pressure stayed in the 145 over 85 range even with daily meds. I started the Keto diet with intermitten fasting 2 months ago. I've lost 20 pounds and my average bp is now 118 over 65 with a heart rate of 52. I dumped the meds 6 weeks ago when I saw my bp dropping. Oh and btw, I love salt and eat several pinches a day of Himilayan and salt everything but bacon.

I have looked near and far with no luck as far as in my "network" and align with my insurance provider. Oh, and if you get involved with you own health, I’ve found most "doctors" are put off by your own research. They want a brain dead sheep that just swallows pills they write prescriptions for. Very frustrating! My last visit I was told "stop taking vitamin d3" It was a whopping 82 NGC/mL. You'd thought it was 200 by the doctor's reaction.

I weigh 113 lbs and feel great. Walk at least 2 miles a day. My bp has gone down into the 140/70 range. My problem is I don’t want to take the meds but can’t seem to get my bp regulated without them. Thanks for this doc. I'm 61, good shape, physically active, resting HR 52, learned I had high BP. Cut out my overly excessive carbs- grain cereal, bread, pasta, pizza after seeing this video. Within one week my BP was down 18 syst, 13 diast. No meds. Great video.

Thank you Dr Berry! That is wonderful news! I had a stroke a couple years ago and I am convinced in my own mind it was because my blood pressure went to low... I have mostly recovered now, but the fear of having another stroke is very real.

I'll add my testimony to the others. Over 40 years high blood pressure after the birth of my son and toxemia. On multiple medications. Had a slight stroke 2 years ago. Doing keto since November. Blood pressure 120 0ver 80s now. Going to have my carotid arteries checked again. Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks for all you do doctor Berry.

The SPRINT study the American Heart Association claims supports the need to keep our blood pressure below 130 systolic (instead of 140) makes my blood pressure go up. The study in no way supports the claim. There are so many problems with the study. The main one is that it draws from a population of older Americans that have health issues but they try to extrapolate the results to all adult Americans. The population they drew the data from does not match the population they are making recommendations for. I taught my students to think carefully about the population of interest in my stats 101 course; the AHA has no excuse for failing at this simple concept. How did they decide to recommend 130 in a study that was testing with a cutoff of 120? It seems they just wanted an excuse to change the recommendations to prescribe more statins. As an interesting aside, they had a below 120 systolic treatment group and a control group they were comparing. The below 120 systolic group did not even achieve the under 120 systolic blood pressure on average even with multiple medications! The conclusion also downplays the increased incidence of liver failure in the treatment group... EDIT: I don't mean to criticize the SPRINT study itself or the researchers that worked on it. I am criticizing the AHA and how they are pretending the study provides more evidence than it does to change blood pressure recommendations. More statins will be needed if you prescribe them to all people above 130 systolic instead of 140. Companies that make statins donate large amounts of money to the AHA. Is the AHA acting in the best interest of the population?

I 💯 agree that Dr Berry is giving a very NEGATIVE feeling with how he is now selling products. Before he was adamant that he did not want to promote products, and that made him stand out as an honest doctor with no ulterior motivation. Now I am not so sure what his motivation is. 😿

@@lisaann6267 You're missing the point. How can we trust any of his advice if his words are influenced by sponsors? And how do we know if the supplements are CRAP or not if he's getting paid to promote them? Especially after he previously denounced the need for supplements.

Thank you for your various suggestions for better health. I have high blood pressure, and had run out of my prescription for it. I made an appointment to get my prescription renewed, but in the meantime a friend told me that juicing a beet (or two) and adding it to my morning smoothie will help me keep my blood pressure down. Well, I did that immediately, and my blood pressure went down considerably! I continued for the following week until my doctor's appointment, and when I went, my blood pressure ws 120/72 -- the lowest it has been for years! I am back on my bp meds, but have continued adding a beet to my morning juice, and feel that it is doing most of the work on keeping my bp down. I am going to see my doctor again in a couple if weeks and will tell her about this, and ask if I can get off my bp meds, but just want to share that beets can be a great way to lower your bp in a pinch.

Dr Berry a week ago I started a carnivore diet. I lost 7lbs, probably inflammation and I’ve seen my bp go from 144/91 to 113/75. I’ve been taking lisinoprol for more than 15 years. I’m 61 years old, after watching many videos and some of the research you’ve referred to, as well as my best friend being on carnivore diet for 9 mos, I decided that it’s worth trying. I’m loving my meals and am excited to see some early results that other diets never did for me!!! I have even put my 13 y.o dog on a raw diet. I’m aware my doctor isn’t going to approve me getting off my meds. So I’m here to ask when will I know when it will be safe to get off my meds, this includes simvistatin. I don’t want to take these meds the rest of my life. Thank you for all your great information and personal experience you’ve shared with the world! It’s amazing that somebody isn’t afraid to dismiss pharma and offer a natural way to eliminate so many conditions that people have accepted as what to expect as they age!
