Glad to find a site that explains the "how to's" of lubing a walking pad belt. This REALLY made sense - manual was worthless !!!

My treadmill (NordicTrack Exp 1000X) has a transparent layer underneath the moving cerface, I am wondering it it needs lubrication.
@hnpfitnessrepair1463
@hnpfitnessrepair1463 2 жыл бұрын
Good question Masoud! That transparent sheet is likely a sheet of mylar that is a low friction contact surface for the walking belt, those did come standard on that model. Do not place the lube under that sheet, place it above the sheet where it comes into contact with the walking belt.

Loosened my belt applied the lube to my new threadmill. Tightened and centered the belt. Turned it on. The left edge of the belt got shredded when it drifted across to the left of the platform.
@hnpfitnessrepair1463
@hnpfitnessrepair1463 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, I'm sorry to hear that happened. When retensioning, belts must be centered as well as tensioned equally on each side, prior to starting the machine. Then, start the machine slowly (at around 2mph) and fine tune as necessary to keep the belt centered. Once it is staying centered, double the speed to 4mph and fine tune again. Once it is staying centered, double the speed again to 8mph and fine tune. Lastly, once it is staying centered, double the speed again to 16mph (or your machine's top speed) and fine tune one last time. Additionally, it's always a good idea to keep the safety key lanyard close by to stop the machine as quickly as possible if the belt is shifting faster than it is able to be corrected.

Is there a reason why lubricant will splatter onto the surround areas after applying it to the deck?
@hnpfitnessrepair1463
@hnpfitnessrepair1463 Жыл бұрын
Yes, thank you for your question! Lube can and will splatted in all directions if the belt and deck are oversaturated. The most common reason is over-lubrication, the next most common reason is because the walking belt has lost it's ability to absorb lube due to excessive friction.

Hi, if my tread gets warm while walking on it is that normal?
@hnpfitnessrepair1463
@hnpfitnessrepair1463 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Randy, Yes, a little bit of warmth is to be expected to due to friction between the walking belt and deck.

Cautionary note - Check the Owner’s Manual to see if your treadmill has a silicone running deck/belt or a waxed running deck/belt. Waxed decks/belts are considered maintenance free meaning nothing should ever be applied/added to the deck or belt for its life. I have a Pacemaster Gold Elite and the manual cautions against lubricating it.

Thank you for your suggestion Bill! PaceMaster stopped using wax lubricants in 2003, Pacemaster required silicone for machines built after that. I was able to find a copy of that document with recommended lube intervals you can see here: hnpfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Lube-Instructions-Insert-100929.pdf

@HnP Fitness Repair Hello. I just bought a new treadmill, but I have no idea if it is lubricated, how it is lubricated or if I need to lubricate it. I read the manual and doesn't say anything about lubrication. I contacted the store that I bought this from and they don't know either as this is a no brand threadmill ( Basically this big store chain in my country buys these chinese treadmills and put a sticker with their own brand name on them, a brand sticker that they use for many other electronics). Thank you

If I use Mobil (Engine Oil) in replace of Silicon oil, will it makes any problem? Thank u.
@hnpfitnessrepair1463
@hnpfitnessrepair1463 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question Mohammad. The only lubricant that should be used is one approved by your machine's manufacturer, which will usually be silicone, but may be paraffin depending on the machine. Using motor oil, or any other type of oil or lubricant, will result in premature wear and possible irreversible damage to your machine.

My 1 month treadmill started gringing so I proceed with lubrification. After I lubrificated my treadmill its making too loud noise. I tried tighting it but still making noise . Any suggestion please ?
@hnpfitnessrepair1463
@hnpfitnessrepair1463 Жыл бұрын
Hi Amel, thank you for your question. Generally grinding noises would be coming from the drive motor or one of the rollers, check those and see if you can isolate the noise.

Hello @bradpittsax, thank you for your question! We checked your manual, and per Tempo, this treadmill should be lubed with 100% silicone every 6 months or 150 miles.

How often do you recommend lubricating? A certain amount of times per year or by distance?
@hnpfitnessrepair1463
@hnpfitnessrepair1463 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack, we recommend the following: How often should I lubricate my treadmill? This will vary greatly by the amount of usage your treadmill experiences. Some machines will have internal timers or odometers that will prompt you to lube your machine after a set number of hours or miles, however, these are just set intervals that have no relation to actual machine performance and need and are approximations only. How do I know when my treadmill needs to be lubricated? The basic rule to follow is that you should be able to touch your deck surface, under the walking belt and feel a slightly waxy or oily coat of lube on the deck. Check under the area where your feet contact the walking belt. In the event you cannot feel a residue left from your last application of lube, it needs more. For a more in-depth explanation of how we make this determination using amp draws, please see our amp draw article. Hello i have a manual threadmill do i need to lube it or no?
@hnpfitnessrepair1463
@hnpfitnessrepair1463 2 ай бұрын
Hi @xdparkourmaster2109, thank you for your question! Yes, manual treadmills should also be lubricated to extend the life of the belt and deck. Even without electronics, the friction between the walking belt and deck should be minimized to minimize wear and lengthen the life of the belt and deck surfaces. HOWEVER, as most manual treadmills are inclined to assist with movement, lubricate sparingly as excess lube not absorbed by the treadmill belt will run down the rear of the treadmill deck if not absorbed.

NordicTrack doesn't seem to want you to know if the lubricant is silicone or paraffin. Owners manual doesn't say and customer service won't tell me. All they want to do is sell me their overpriced product. Do you know what I should buy? I have a NordicTrack T6.5S. Model# NTL17915.17. Thank you in advance.

Great question Charles, thank you for bringing that up! Sprays are NOT recommended as they contain additives that can deteriorate the underside of the walking belt. 100% pure silicone from a tube or bottle is what manufacturers require.
