UPDATE - Managed to also add a magnet to the Havoc Launcher, I’ve just added some pics and an explanation on my Instagram (hobbywaffle). Hope it helps, and thanks for watching 👍🙂

I've developed an obsession with magnetising every part of my dreadnought. Literally. The head is magnetised. The arm joints are magnetised. The hip joint is magnetised. Why? I don't know. I'm just obsessed.

How do you magnetize the cyclone middle launcher on top?, that’s one thing I’m stuck on while I’m trying to magnetize my contemptor dreadnought
@hobbywaffle2 жыл бұрын
@@dergrumpboyz I haven’t done it yet, but I’m going to glue a 5mm x 1mm magnet on the underside of the top plate of the dread, and then glue a small steel nut inside the bottom of the missile launcher, that should do it and as long as the magnet and nut are central it should sit nicely. I’ll post some pics on my instagram when I’ve done it and comment here

What I realised is that the part connceted to the shoulder is different from wepaon to fist. So I recommend magnetizing those too (7x1mm), gives you the flexibility of changing hands and weapons on both sides and you can change the rotation position of the whole arm.

I screwed up and didn't have big enough magnets but the dread holds the weapons well even without the magnets

@tobyward60722 жыл бұрын
Thx for the vid. Have you thought about making the waist rotatable ?
@hobbywaffle2 жыл бұрын
I might look at that for the next build - it’s a ball joint so it might be possible to put something like a 3mm x 2mm magnet in the centre of both sides.

Brilliant! I saw you also did the Havoc launcher, too! Any thoughts about the weapon embedded in its claw (left hand)?
@hobbywaffle2 жыл бұрын
I did look at it but decided not to bother - I think a smaller magnet such as a 2 x 1mm might fit, but you’d have to leave the power fist part unglued and secure it some other way, as you need to take it off to swap out the inbuilt weapon. In the end I just went for the flamer
@bluedotdinosaur Жыл бұрын
Similar to some of the Adeptus Titanicus kits, it seems this one was purposefully engineered for being magnetized. It's a shame GW does not advertise what the kit designers are doing so people know in advance.
@hobbywaffle Жыл бұрын
Agreed, they advertised it well with the Warlord Titan and one or two of the others, and they really should make a point of highlighting as a positive when they design kits with options to magnetise.
@davidguglielmo11772 жыл бұрын
i need to ask, it's the same procedure for the left hand of the dreadnought or something is different? thx a lot for anyone answering me
@hobbywaffle2 жыл бұрын
Yes, follow the same procedure and if you‘ve already done the right arm, use that arm to get your magnet polarity correct, then you can swap weapons/arms between the right and left sides.
@davidguglielmo11772 жыл бұрын
@@hobbywaffle thx a lot

How do you keep the magnets clear when painting and priming?
@hobbywaffle2 жыл бұрын
I usually just put a little blob of blu-tac on them, or you could use masking fluid if you have it.
@jackstephenson1652 жыл бұрын
@@hobbywaffle thank you.

What strength of magnets did you use? Videos always talk about size but noone says what strength they are using. Eg N45s would probably be overkill but are N35s strong enough?
@hobbywaffle2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the ones I used were N35 (0.16kg pull) and they seem more than strong enough. Good point about magnet strength though, I’ll make sure I mention it in future videos, although I’ll have to add it as a graphic for the Rhino unboxing as I’ve already filmed that one 🙂
@IlPane15052 жыл бұрын
What if I magnetized not taking into the account the polarization of the magnets and built all the weapons like a dum dum last night? Any way to fix the issue? I used plastic cement for the minis and super glue for the magnets. Pro tip, don't assemble miniatures when you are drunk...
@hobbywaffle2 жыл бұрын
Have you put the arms together fully? If you have glued a magnet into the ring on the upper arm, that should pop out easy enough with some gentle force. For the weapons, if you can’t pry the magnets out, you could maybe drill a small hole from the other/outer side of the weapon which will pop the magnet out. You could then set them all the right way around, and just have to fill the small hole if you are ok with that? A very small flat head screwdriver might be able to pry them out though, seeing as it’s superglue. Hope you manage to get it sorted!
@dooooooo1232 жыл бұрын
I would just magnetise the same way as my resin Contemptors so they can all use the same weapons. Not a fan of this method, doesn't look like it works well between gun and fist loadout.
@hobbywaffle2 жыл бұрын
Did you magnetise them at the joint further up? I’ll be doing something similar for the Leviathan probably
@dooooooo1232 жыл бұрын
@@hobbywaffle I'm looking at the sprue online and it seems they've made it really awkward for resin weapons. As there are only 1 lf each parts 25 and 29 you can't magnetise these the same way as the resin kits without having a 25 or 29 for each weapon (depending if left or right handed). They didn't consider the resin gun arm kits for the FW Dreads at all by the looks of it. As someone with lots of gun option thay are legion agnostic in paint scheme I'll have to stick to resin Dreads unless I want to get a whole 2nd set of plastic Dread arms :/
@marvinbaitman80062 жыл бұрын
Dose this apply to the forge world resin contemptors.
@hobbywaffle2 жыл бұрын
Not easily - the upper arm part on the resin Contemptor is a solid piece, whereas it’s a ring in the plastic kit. You could maybe drill a small hole for a magnet but you could end up with a brittle ring of resin. I’ve found that my resin Contemptor weapons fit on the plastic upper arm with friction holding it in place, but it may very given how inconsistent resin is
@geertbeekman86802 жыл бұрын
the dreathnought from the hh box doesnt need magnets you can swap the weapons out if you dont gluy them
