Just opened my box, there's an easier way to do the main gun. You don't really have to mess with back end at all, just pick one that looks cool (I like the heat sinks of the volkite). Then it's easy to just magnetize the main gun breech from behind so the top glues on securely. For the sponsons on these vehicles, rather than deal with those pegs I just cut the lower mounting tab off entirely. Then I glue a big magnet to the bottom side of the upper tab, magnets on the top side of the guns, and they snap into place while being able swivel. I did the same thing with my old Landraider sponsons too, if you use heavy enough magnets you don't even need a bottom tab to support them. No one can see them and they're secure. It's so much easier than messing with the friction of pegs. For the dozer blade, you can put a pair of small magnets on the inner drive sprockets and magnets along the dozer arm, right where your finger is at 9:17. Just paint that part dark or add some dirt to cover them up, then you have a pair of magnets holding the stock mounts, and two more magnets supporting the weight of the nose heavy front end.

Best alternative use for the dozer blade is as a spoiler for White Scars vehicles

Dozer blade - I used magnets at the connection point underneath. I then positioned the small decorative ring parts meant to go on the front to the sides so the rings are accessible. I put another of those from the Spartan kit on the middle of the dozer blade again so the ring is accessible. Then a piece of 0.5mm pinning wire threads through the rings. That is enough to solve the weight and looks like wire supports that could be feasible.

This video made me get 2 Kratos for my Death Guard (HH). I just finished magnetising yesterday, and after plotting and scheming for days on how to magnetise the Dozer Blade I remember that DG ignore difficult terrain 😅 So luckily no Dozer for me. Great video Rob, yours are always the first I go to when a new kit comes out :)

You could try and sneak some magnets into the sides of the dozer arms and the idler wheel

Same thought exactly, and paint the arms/magnets dark. Won't be noticeable at all.

Could one peg the dozer blade on the front? Attach pegs sculpted to look like mounting arms on the front plates of the tank, and carve a slot into the dozer arms to receive said pegs. IMHO it'd make the tank look like it was designed to mount attachments from the get-go. Edit: from a second look at the front plate, the contact area with the dozer arms looks a tad narrow so probs pinning it is the way to go.

GW only hike up the prices because they know people buy elsewhere- if they lowered their prices, people would still shop elsewhere, halving the lower price in the process, then earning even less money- and anyway, they dont care about selling directly from them they just want to reinforce its a premium product and a fun hobby. If they can get people into the hobby theyre gonna make heaps- its an interesting business model for a tabletop hobby company, but works so well

Use 20 gauge wire to pin the dozer blade (w/out gluing it) and that should keep it on while still being able to remove it

Build a block of styrene or green stuff inside the hull mounting points for the dozer blade, then use pins on the dozer mounting arms that slot into the blocks through the hull mounting points
@spikeybitstv2 жыл бұрын
yep that could work. It would definitely need pins up there for sure!

@@spikeybitstv Where are you getting that from? Last relevant accounts pre-COVID (FY19) state operating profit margins is 36.7% for Trade vs. 29.5% for GW Retail + Online. It's not a perfect breakdown as their operating profit figures also have some other noise, but broadly it's the same / slightly better for trade sales.
@MrLems872 жыл бұрын
@@rwjscaper that’s not how it works - there is far more to profit than what price the product is sold at. There are more sales through trade vs GW retail / online and the cost base is higher, so actually trade sales are higher operating profit, but they need GW stores / website as the brand ambassador. Read their financials.

Is it possible to magnetize the pintle mounted weapons?
@thorinwhitewolf12132 жыл бұрын
@@Tailhook91 yes. But the plug way Rob showed is a lot less hassle. To magnetise it though I would pop a magnet top and bottom of each gun and then add a magnet to the top and bottom of each bracket they would sit in. Only problem is getting the sensor to rotate when you spin it.
