Lol, to further illustrate how important "future proofing" is, I'm just getting my first exocrine, and it's not 9e codex to worry about, it's what will 10e do! Always going to be a new meta "just around the corner". Great video, I definitely would have made a couple of the mistakes that were pointed out here.

What sized magnet was used here?

Quick tip for people who only have green stuff on hand (maybe helpful with the puddy you’re using too) I like to add superglue to the connection between the puddy and the magnet as well, to make sure everything stays in place better. I tried it without the glue on my Tyranid warriors, and the next day the magnets popped right out of the green stuff.

Great tip! Green Stuff, isn't the strongest since it's more for sculpting. The Apoxie Sculpt is much stronger in my experience. I'd say only 1/20 Magnets pop off, but only the ones that go on bases. I've never had a limb magnet fail on me yet 🤞

This tutorial was very well done. The camera was angled enough so that I could see what you were doing.

Excellent job, couple of small tips. One use paint on the magnet face, then push the limb/head to the area, you'll see the exact location for ease of second magnet placement. Two, rather than cut off the ends of the limbs and filling joints, stick the magnets in the joints after drilling, also stick them in the limbs, takes slightly longer but also gives a bit of a smother finish. Other than that really clear if a bit scripted but you'll get there

Thanks for posting a crafting video like this!! I’m very excited to pick up my 1st Exocrine. After watching your tutorial, the same method should work for other modular bugs like the Mawlock / Trygon.
@maelstromgamingstudios52402 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you can figure this bug out most of the other monsters are really easy to do!

@@maelstromgamingstudios5240 after watching more of your videos this seems like a great way to future-proof a Tyranid army and allow for flexible load outs for playing at different levels of play 500 vs 1000 vs 2000 PTS etc

Whoa! this is a great video! Not just on the model kit and how to maginetize it, but for magnetizing models totally! Would have never figured out this way on my own. Many thanks!

not bad, with my video you don't need to cut out the back plate plastic part check it out if you are interested.

Could you do a how to do that to a swarmlord/hive tyrant
@maelstromgamingstudios52403 жыл бұрын
We'll add it to the list! The wings are tricky to do but the limbs are essentially the same thing as in this video.
@Ballard2583 жыл бұрын
In that respect its easier to make a swarmlord thats allso a walking tyrant you just need to magnetize the head and weapons you want. Magnetizing wings its much more trouble than its worth if you are going for a flying tyran just glue the wings and magnetize the weapons. If you want to make twinlinked devourers you can kitbash them with swarmlord bonesabers if you have a second kit or you are not going to use them, 4 spare devourers 2 deathspitters and some greenstuff and you have them.

Really good video, clear and easy to follow. I've seen a few similar videos to this but you have done this better than most. The top down camera angle is good at showing clearly what you are doing. I'm sure it is not the easiest way to film. You are also using a nice clear and clean working surface. I've seen too many videos where people are doing this on their cluttered work table on a dark cutting mat with 10 years worth of paint spills and it makes it difficult to see what they are doing. The light coloured clear work surface makes a big difference. I'm new to Warhammer and Tyranids are my first army so more Tyranid content is always good. It would be interesting to see in future videos your opinions on which Tyranids are good for magnetising (ease of doing it and whether it is worth the effort), particularly for beginners. How to magnetise a Carnifex is at the top of my to do list at the moment.
@maelstromgamingstudios52403 жыл бұрын
We can definitely do something like that in the future! Hive Tyrants, Carnifexes and Warriors are the big three.

Great job. I might have missed this, but what size magnets did you use?
@maelstromgamingstudios52403 жыл бұрын
I might have totally forgot! I use 1/4 in diameter, 3/32 depth magnets for all my big models, like Tyranid limbs.
@Ilovesusanna3 жыл бұрын
@@maelstromgamingstudios5240 DO you need to put superglue between the epoxy and the magnet?
@maelstromgamingstudios52403 жыл бұрын
@@Ilovesusanna Most situations I don't. However it never hurts to be extra safe with a little bit of glue.

Good video. I only have a minor critique. This video was clearly more scripted than the tier list video. There is nothing wrong with a script, but your voice seemed to have a lot less energy than in the other video. Like I said, minor critique.

@@maelstromgamingstudios5240 Thanks for your answer. I am starting a Tyranid army, I copy a GW painting scheme or I make my own scheme, but befor I start painting I have to build my models first =)

Great advice! I hadn't thought to add a pin for extra support so this will help with my future builds. My only thought is that I will make the pin shorter than seen as I only want it to be as long as the hole is deep.
