I just learned to play Mahjong from a friend today and it was so fun! We struggled with the setup mechanics so this was super helpful! Doesn't have to be an american set -- you can find labelled chinese sets if you look around. My first set was a chinese set and was labelled.

Yes exactly, you draw a tile from the end of the walls only when you draw a flower or when you Gong.

hong kong basic is so much more simple than riichi, I've gotta remember under the river, big 3 dragons, and the titular riichi to even sit down in a japanese style game, not to mention scoring.
