I have Ethos Graphene on my car. I typically do a home touchless wash using my Mi-T-M electric pressure washer and Oberk APS. Love the Mi-T-M, very quiet and made in the USA. Works surprisingly well using the green tip and carefully going back and forth on each panel from bottom to top. I’ll occasionally follow up with Adam’s Waterless to remove any remaining road film. I try keep contact washing to every couple months since each touch can potentially cause scratches.

Great video as usual. I’ve enjoyed using the original McKee’s graphene ceramic coating. Definitely adds incredible gloss to the vehicle. I have a 2 1/2 year old pick up with no swirls. Proper wash methods and hood drying aids go along way!

That truck still looks awesome. All of the Graphene Oxide coatings seem to sheet with tight beads. Even though I have 4 quality drying towels, I blow dry most of the vehicle and then apply a topper, Titan for final wipe. Mostly Rinseless Wash during the winter after a quick power rinse at the local self-service car wash bay. Ready to pull out the power washer!!

As I live n an apartment I do a weekly rinsless wash and dig out the pressure washer once a month. I use Garage Therapy car and decon shampoos for the monthly washes, The lubricantion is fantastic. I’m still debating on which LSP to apply once my current Fusso Coat expires later this year. Being a outdoor daily driver limits my choice unfortunately Chelsea

My washer is a Blackjack electric, similar to your Ryobi. My Mini is coated with Nano Bond, washed with whatever is cheapest, and topped with Bead It Up. My truck is all McKee's; coated with Graphine v1, washed with graphine wash, and topped with graphine hydro. I wash both using a foam cannon first, rinse, then a 1 bucket multi towel contact wash.

I have 4 vintage bikes but I'm getting a little older and it's getting harder to keep up. You could use an iron remover and a wash mitt for starters and if it needs a clay bar use DIY Detail Clay towel as it’s fine grade and use it with soapy water gently over the coating and you can remove it that way

Hi Chelsea, Great Tip and video as always. A subject I do not hear discussed often when drying the vehicle with these Ceramic/ Graphene Sprays is how are they affecting the drying towels even after washing them with a dedicated Micro Fiber washing detergent? I understand never to use any type of fabric softener, but would the high Chemical resistance in these Sealants/ Detailers diminish or reduce the drying ability of the towels? I have seen this issue with my own drying towels and change them out every couple of seasons.

They can. I add a splash of white vinegar to my fabric softener space in my washer and wash with P&S Rags to Riches (wash with hot water with a extra rinse and dry on low)

Interesting about the roof. Didn’t look like the regular soap did much to unclog it. Do you use water spot remover to do your unclogs? Seen that used with success. The coating on that truck is impressive for sure! Thanks.

Because of the contact angle that I was rinsing it at it didn’t look like it was unclogged, but it was. It was sheeting more because of the contact angle. I was introducing the water on the roof with. But if I needed a water spot remover for that coating. I would use Mckees37 Fast water spot remover, and it would do a great job of removing the water spots without being a strong acid that could potentially weaken it as it’s a acid free formula. That is what I plan to use on it if I have to do a maintenance water spot treatment.

Would it be safe to assume that any brand I use for the coating, use the same brand of soap (especially when that soap has either a ceramic or Graphene)? And is it recommended to use that ceramic or Graphene soap every contact wash? And what is recommended to use between the monthly wash?

To get the most out of the coating, the manufacturer is always going to recommend that you use their products to maintain it with. You can use pretty much any pH neutral or ceramic friendly soap or drying aid, but you may not get the durability that the manufacturer claims because part of the durability claims is their assuming you’re going to use their products to maintain it with if that makes sense. You can use whatever you want but the coating will benefit from using products that are in the same chemical family.

Truck hydrophobics are off the hook. what would happen if you put a ceramic coating on a panel without a panel prep or IPA ?

Honestly can't remember if I panel wiped down the roof first. next time i will panel prep the whole vehicle first. Thx for taking the time to respond.

I am not mobile I do all of the detailing at my home and I have fantastic customers that bring their vehicles to me. But I am also pretty flexible with drop off times and pick up times so I try to be as accommodating as possible to their schedules. But it’s no different than you bringing your vehicle to a garage to be worked on - most people arrange a pick up and have someone drop them off if the vehicle has to be left overnight to be worked on or left there for several hours if they don’t have the time to wait.

Why don't you regularly use a blower to dry almost every vehicle?

I have hard water and sometimes it would take too long to dry the vehicle before hard water spots would become an issue. I do blow out crevices for coating jobs but with a drying aid and towel can dry it faster. But you are right that a blower would be a great way to dry a vehicle if you can dry it fast enough to avoid water spots. Most of my customers don’t have a blower though so I try to show them techniques with tools that would work for them.

Some actually want to keep their coating for as long as possible because they’ve invested a lot of time and money to prep and have it applied. You can do whatever you want but my job is to help educate my customers to get the best results possible. This is how they achieve that. But you can do whatever you want!
