Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To - SPL

Күн бұрын

In this video I go over the Step by Step procedure I take when I service a swimming pool. This is a basic video guide on how to maintain a swimming pool for either a homeowner or pool service professional. I walk you thru the steps I take on a pool from beginning to end.
For sake of time this is an overview video, however at every second mark in the video I have links to other videos that go into more detail for the item or procedure in each clip. That way if you need more detailed help on something I show or wish to investigate a product in the video you can do it by clicking on the link in the description at that time mark.
I do all these steps in order so not to forget to do something. Doing this over and over on a pool route puts your brain in robot mode and you can't think back two stops previous and try to remember if you added chemicals or not. So if you do the steps in order chances are you won't forget anything.
I will go into each step in more detail in this Blog Article as the Description here is limited. To continue reading this write up go to this link for the Blog Article: poolmandave.blogspot.com/2016/...
Here are the Ideal Ranges for the Test Factors:
FC - Free Chlorine 1.5-3 ppm
CC - Combined Chlorine 0.5 less than
BR - Bromine 4-6 ppm
PH - Acidity/Alkalinity 7.4-7.8
TA - Total Alkalinity 80-120
CH - Calcium Hardness 220-350 *
CYA - Cyanuric Acid 30-70 ppm
SALT 2800- 3100 ppm **
* Levels may be lower in a Vinyl or Fiberglass Pool
** Depending on the salt system brand

With the vacuums, here in Florida I see people using the Hammerhead (pretty much the same as your power vac), but not so much the vacuum that you plug into the skimmer. Do you know why they don't use the skimmer one? Do you think it's laziness or lack of knowledge, or does the Power vac do the same thing? My guess is that the skimmer vac is used for fine particles and the power vac for larger debris? So are the guys here in FL not getting the small particles cleaned up? Thanks!!
@dannyboy768
@dannyboy768 5 жыл бұрын
Not vacuuming save lots of time. I would only vacuum if there is super fine dust that goes through the hammerhead bag. But my boss doesn’t even give me a vacuum so I only use the hammerhead. He says the filter catches anything that goes through the bag. Also in Florida

+pumajr05 I prefer to run them during the day in the Summer so the pool has less issues - it is better to run when the Sun is hitting it and it is hot out. just curious, how do large hotels like in Vegas do their year round pool maintenance? like is it just a MUCH larger scale as you do with a home? like do the have multiple, maybe dozens of pool pumps, and filters, and chlorinators, etc? do you think they also soften the water with a water softener? i've always been curious how they do it. Hypothetically, would you be able to be in charge of servicing a hotel's pool such as something like the Ceasars Palace pool? lol just a random curious question i had
@christopherleal1148
@christopherleal1148 Жыл бұрын
Just what you’d think they’d have. They use bigger commercial pumps with pipes that are larger allowing a higher flow rate (gpm). The maintenance is usually done with a team not just one person, and the chems probably get added automatically with either something like a salt cell or some other generative process. Some places only use bromine so when tourist pass by the smell is more like a water park or spa instead of chlorine like a backyard pool 😅

Question iNotice you said to make sure the pump is full of water at 1:58. IAm a new pool owner. Must I add water myself ? My pump says “priming” when i power it . Does it do this on its own?
@SPL
@SPL 5 жыл бұрын
It is better if you fill it with water after opening. Most pumps will prime up but it could take longer and if it doesn't prime ofr some reason it could burn out the motor or cause a leak.

I rarely have seen my pool service guys stay more than 10 minutes. They rarely and I mean rarely brush. Many don't leave updates even when something is wrong. It took me quite a few services to find one that I liked. Please do a good job and communicate and you will keep customers. I've had some really bad apples, too. Making me change my perfectly working equipment to a bad configuration when it was working correctly in the first place. KNOW what you are doing and be ethical. Just today I went to look at my leaf catcher and the bag was torn. I brought in in the house, sewed it back together and put it back. Never was I given the alert that anything was wrong.

suzan24k You're absolutely right about a couple of services and you will realize who is who and you would stay with in general. I recently have a new mortgage tag and it includes the pool and this is very new to me. Even if they clean and put chemicals as long as the water is clear, clean, sanitize, not green and no dust on the bottom and I'm in a great start lol....
