Hello, you have explained "the basics" you are missing a couple of very important tips. When you are about to go out with the bike, never do it after a charge, wait about 20 minutes for the BMS to balance the battery modules. Don't charge the battery after using the bike either, also wait 20 to 30 minutes for the BMS to balance the modules. I am a battery technician from Barcelona, Spain.
@Biktrix

This really depends on how your BMS works. On our batteries, the BMS goes about balancing cells while charging.

In the third year since I bought it, my mileage has decreased by 20%. I thought it was due to battery deterioration, but the cause turned out to be deterioration of the wheel bearings. After replacing the four bearings in the rear hub, the mileage was almost the same as when it was new. It's clearly powerful even when running.

What causes a battery to make a vibration noise if it's already been purchased? I have a 48V 21ah extended-range battery that I've been using for something, and I wanted to know about the readings for this battery compared to my 48V 13ah battery. The readings on the Odometer are supposed to be different, but if I'm supposed to get 50 - 90 miles from this extended-range battery. Where would this 50 - 90 mile reading come from? I feel that I'm not getting it's maximum extended range when I'm riding.

Excellent video, accurate and clear. I use chargers that can be set to 80%, 90% or 100% of maximum. I charge to 80% or 90% most of the time. Every 30 or so charges the battery needs a balancing charge of 100% at a slow rate, 2 amps. My chargers do a taper off 2amp balance charge. I have 3 bikes, 2 hubbers both with dual batteries and a Biktrix FS with single battery. The bikes get ridden often, 3 years and batteries work like new. It's the middle range charging cycles that make em last. Prius batteries last over 10 years because a Prius never fully charges or discharges, stays in the middle 75% sweet spot.

Nice video, you're 100% correct about no memory affect for Li-ion batteries (so many people think they need to totally discharge them, but are actually damaging them!). One question, I don't see how removing the battery for charging is a good idea. How exactly will that help maintain battery health?
@Biktrix

It's just a recommended way to charge the battery as it's one less thing that could go wrong when the motor controller/electronics is connected to a battery that's being charged..
@JonahHax

You are not damaging the batteries by using them to 0%, since the 0% is still well within the specs (unless the BMS'es on ebikes are shite compared to BMS'es on EUC's?) 0% is between 3 and 3.3 volts per cell, far away from the 2.5 volts where damage can start to occur. You should be able to find out what voltage your cells consider 0%.

Yeah I wondered about this and noticed that there is no reply. If there is a fault in the charger unit, (lets say dropped or damaged) then hopefully that is discovered upon plugging into the wall and it reduces the chances of the fault being passed through to the battery. Just a thought.

I am planning on buying my first ebike and am trying to learn about battery charging basics myself. I agree with Shanon with the following and please feel free to correct me if I am wrong as I am in the learning stages of this myself! 1. Never run your battery down to 0%. 2. If not using your battery like during winter months, bring inside and store it between 30% and 60%. 3. Never store your battery in extreme cold or hot and always try to keep it in moderate temp and in a dry environment. I am still not sure on the following: 1. Is it okay to use right away after charging or should a person wait 20 minutes or so? 2. When not being used over winter do I just check in on it and make sure that it never gets below the 30% and when it does do I charge it back up to only 60%? I think it’s very important to read and follow the method the manufacturer says as I am reading how to do it different ways. I did come across this link which I think has some good information and tips. komaki.in/blog/charging-an-electric-bike-battery-the-first-time/

the comment from serginlivemendoza is corect. I use to fly RC aircrafts and I do know alot about lithium batteries. Since charging RC's , the chargers on those do balance at the same tie as charging, it makes sense to leave it for time to balance since the standard ebike charger does not balance the batt like a charger on RC's
