tuned hub motors have some punch, but what distinguishes the ultra (or other high power mid drives) from the hub is heat shedding. inrunners can handle heat much better than outrunners. pushing a geared hub motor that hard is not sustainable, sooner or later the windings will be cooked, same for the hall sensor board.

Hoo boy, you got my blood pumping with that video, Roshan! So since it’s my tradition, here’s my usual battery of questions, with hopes that my “Day 1” order will result in a January shipment😅 1: we’ve established max speed, but how about range with a 200 pound person? Thinking throttle only and in eco mode PAS? Level ground is ok. 2. What did the weight end up being with fenders and rear rack? How much can it actually support? How about installed vs optional lighting? I love the new setups with turn signals, automatic brake lights, horns and alarm- that would be perfect to come OEM from you already wired to the battery! 3. I ordered the smaller version thinking it would be easier to transport- what really is the difference in size between the small tire vs large tire versions? I would love the 26x4 fat tire version over smaller tires as long as it doesn’t make it Juggernaut XL size. That FS was a beast! 4. How does it ride without the electric engaged? Is it rideable for those times on the Boardwalk or in the park when the PoPo says it’s a NoNo? 5. How many are gonna be shipped initially, and are you prepping them in CA and then shipping them again from there, or coming straight from China? 6. What other accessories towards family and cargo hauling will be possible, like trailers and such? It can be a bit daunting to get them installed (think child carriers on the back) with some of the custom setups that are Biktrix! 7. If you receive them in Saskatoon first, will you QC the initial batch to make sure there have not been any errors in manufacture or packaging? Including test assembly and riding? I’m not sure what is normal these days compared to Covid era bikes…. I’m excited about the new bike, and will be reviewing it as soon as received!!!!

When preparing for the separating of the two halves of the motor housing I find it helpful to use a wide wedge 'spudger' and run it around both opposing surfaces of the gasket before I pull the housing apart. Then the gasket does not tear due to sticking to one the sides of the housing. Spudgers seem to come in handy for a number of DIY chores, and are pretty inexpensive.

Best thing to do is ride yourself. A good torque sensor hub motor can feel as good or better than a mid drive depending on how the mid drive is tuned. With a mid drive u can feel any imperfections in power delivery directly thru the pedals. A properly configured hub drive can be damped out/feel smoother. Theres some intangibles you can really only feel/understand when you ride it.

Great video guys but one crucial part is missing and this is crucial for the motor to sit in the frame cradle with ease. At the reinstall part around the 3:00 mark you say to connect the power connections and pull the others to the side. Why don’t you show the opposite side from the drive side and state how the break, shift, gear sensor, and the torque sensor cables, four in all, should go under the middle bolt and out side the rear bolt and routed out the back? It’s crucial for the motor to set in with ease. DO NOT GO UNDER THE REAR BOLT AND OUT THE BACK, the motor wil not cradle down on the frame. Hope this helps people.
