I have had a Husqvarna 550 xp Mk II for over 3 years and I am very satisfied. It is probably the best saw in the 50 cm3 class.

Nice video! One thing: be carefull with the use of compressed air on the bar oil outlet! Easy to blow gunk back into the oilreservoir and/or clogging up the outlet.

I like my Stihl 2in1, that’s nice for a quick hit if I need to. But I’ve really gotten to like the regular round hand file. Then I can take down the depth gauges after every few sharpenings.

Growing up I've always run a STIHL chainsaw and I've had dozens of them for the last 32 years. But I've been taken a good interest in the husky line of saws in particularly the the 550xp and I am thinking strongly on buying one but the only thing that's stopping me is the forums that I have seen. In those forums I've heard from people saying that the huskies don't last as long as stihls, and I am wondering if that is true or not. Just dicided to make this comment for anybody that wants to respond to my big question of whether I should just stick with STIHL or switch to husqvarna because I really do like and would love to try the 550xp!!
@Ryan-zt1gb2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on how you look after it. my dad still has old huskies from years and years ago that run in the fam and we have stihls as well. They will serve you well and last if you look after them.

“Go with what you know,” as the saying goes, Kendall. It’s like this, they are both great brands, and each Company has their great saws, and their ‘lemons!’ Pros and Cons to each brand, and I’m just calling it like I see it. I just took my 15 year old 345e in for minor service, that I don't have the time or patience to do, and my Dealer, primarily a Stihl Dealer, had just started carrying Huskies again. I had a chance to see and handle a 550 XP Mark II, and it just ‘felt right!’ Incredible balance! Nice machine. Ima gonna go back tomorrow and buy it! Good luck and stay safe! Peace

bevel the clutch cover rear locating pin hole from the saw. cover will slip in nicer and wont cut the plastic pin and test your cylinder bolts if they are loose.

My only complaint is the outboard clutch, hard to get chain on and off quickly, the stihls are good if you happen to get your bar pinched and you don’t have a back up saw you can just pull the bar cover and remove it from the saw. I know pros don’t have that happen to often!
@OldSchoolMillennial3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I prefer the clutch on the stihls. I always bring atleast two or three saws so if a saw ever gets pinched I can get it out.
@Rob-tl9md2 жыл бұрын
bar is much closer to center on outboard clutch saws. thats a huge plus for flicking the saw around.

Hello OSM, I'm the proud owner of this chainsaw (my 2nd chainsaw since needing one) but seem to have a problem with it wanting to quit on me. Since cutting a pine stump using it horizontally it doesn't want to start easily or once started it quits, despite Husqvarna claiming it self regulates according to altitude / oil petrol ratio mix... Is it the fact I'm using SP95 RON petrol, should I use the highest available? Is the recommended ratio of 50:1 oil to petrol too minimal? Please advise if you can, as once going it is a pleasure to use.. Cheers Bill
@OldSchoolMillennial Жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, I personally use 50:1. Lately, I've been running Stihl's premixed non-ethinol and have had good luck with it. You may want to try that just to take that out of the equation. That's a shame that you're having that issue. I haven't experienced that before. Let me know if using the premix helps. Good luck!

You did not grease the needle bearing?
@lemmywinx2 жыл бұрын
Hey you missed out an important part - you forgot to grease the bearing. The little hole in the middle of the clutch is actually a grease port. Use a push grease pump to inject grease into the pin bearing.

When are ya' getting a 592xp???
@OldSchoolMillennial3 жыл бұрын
That saw looks sweet! The question is when the 592 will be available. I have seen next year is when it will start to become available. I would love to run that saw. It seems to be a great mix between the size(weight) of the 390 with more power than the 395 and a better balance. That sounds like a winner!

One VERY important point - release the CHAINBREAK before removing clutch cover - you will need to reset the chainbreak if you dont. I just bought my first chainsaw 550 xp and followed your video to install bar and chain, didnt release chainbreak and was sweating chickens as nothing would go back together, but good video otherwise.

I've found the 550 to be junk, I use it every day an since June of21 been through 3. They are junk, I got bout 10 months out of a 261 stihl, company buys em so I'm stuck
@davido69152 жыл бұрын
Have you tried a 550 mark2? What is the biggest issue with the husky and the 261?
@joestorto47032 жыл бұрын
@@davido6915 husky are junk, got 2 mark 2 oiler gear replacement like every 2 weeks in clod weather, hard starting, can't start it with winter gloves , the company I work for buys them , we ran stihl for years, no problems, everyone who works where I do agree, thier junk
@davido69152 жыл бұрын
@@joestorto4703 I would say I prefer stihl all my life but i have started to collect husky’s some. I also rebuild stihls for a hobby. They definitely have a much more solid oiler system because they use a metal oiler verse the cheap plastic ones i see in husky. Im curious to know how many hours you put on your saws a day? I have been told to not let your saw run dry on bar oil because it can damage the oiler from lack of lubricant. It’s very strange because some guys swear by husky and they complain about stihls breaking all the time! I would say the mtronic system on stihl has been problematic because the solenoids go bad quickly when using pump gas and this has caused alot of negative reviews for stihl. If the stihls never have problems then what happened to them that you switched over to husky?
