I just picked up a new 592 XP from a local feed store today. When I first ran it the saw kept dying at idle, like about a dozen times, im up here in the mountains at about 9,000 feet. I walked around the property with the saw idling and cutting small standing dead trees every now and then. After about an hour it idled perfect. I do notice that the high speed is rough still, I'll have to try that 90 second cut thing. Also, I dumped the dealers gas and put in canned gas and immeditely I noticed a big difference in performance. That canned gas is like magic.

Great video bud. I work for a well known tool rental company and had a 555 come off rent with a ten psi loss of compression. It ran okay wide open but it would not idle. I installed a new cylinder head and piston after seeing scoring on piston and cylinder wall. Ran even better after that but still no idle. Finally saw this video and tried the auto tune reset and by golly it worked

It feels like Husqvarna is not training their dealers to share this with new saw owners. I own 550, 562, and 572 xp saws all with auto tune. Ironically, had the same experience, the 562 has been a terrible running saw from the get-go. Was never told by two separate dealers about this process. Almost sold them all and switched to Stihl till i saw your video.

I have 550 xp and 562 xp Both have less than 20 running hours on them .. they both seemed to not run properly. Brought to my local husky dealer and he said they both have air leaks .. husky never did anything even though they have warranty . My local husky dealer just dropped husky products and I am stuck with 2 practically brand new saws that won’t run properly.. I’m not sure if it is air leak but possible carb issues.. you got any ideas ?!? I’m thinking about sending to another saw shop .. what should I do …. ???!!

As a friendly reminder, when conducting a tuning cut, you only need 4-6 feet of wood. Remember the 2 major requirements. 1. Wide open throttle. 2. Keep the saw moving in the cut. If the saw pauses in the cut and loses load, it will come out of tuning mode, and you may have to start over. Other than out of the box, new, this cut may be helpful if the saw sits for long periods between uses, major temperature/humidity changes, or distinct changes in elevation. Top handle saws can benefit even more from this technique as they are constantly cutting smaller diameter wood and have less opportunity for tuning. This is a great demonstration on making a tuning cut. Thanks, Tim. & David

Thank you so much, I just got the 562xp markii and my saw did same thing as yours and would not idle without babysitting and would stall when burping the throttle and when running if turned in different angles just like in the video and I was about to throw it into the river... dealer never mentioned anything about calibration on first run and even when called about it all they said was never let the saw idle long periods otherwise it would mess the carb up and need to be brought in for it to be flashed at my cost.... still kinda with they offer pro saws without the auto-tune though lol.

If I was his dealer I would have given him another new 562 right away and not have sent him home with a troubled saw. He bought several new saws basically at the same time and his ECHO 620 is his go 2 60cc saw because the 562 won't run correctly.

I saw that video. I think it may have been something other than calibration. I don’t know the whole story either but he needs to contact Husqvarna for a follow up on the issue. @@ForestApps he's been in contact with the dealer and they will fix the issue I'm sure, but with them knowing of OW of having a KZbin channel, I would have not let my product (Husqvarna 562) leave my shop again and go up against his ECHO 620 on KZbin. That's just me (IMO) makes the 562 look bad even though it's only one saw. My diagnosis from the couch is that it's the ignition coil or spark related.

I think the simple answer to your question is YES, any saw that needs to go through a set up process like this is a fail, then to learn that it has a micro chip fitted is the final straw, my new 565 is going to the back of the barn while I look for a more sensible chainsaw, these things will not be around in 5 year, and to see that the dealers do not even know about the set up is crazy, no doubt the idea of some new graduate wanting to drag us into the 21 st century. I am off to buy a Stihl.
@karlrovey
@karlrovey 6 ай бұрын
@@453421abcdefg12345They all require some sort of setup and initial tuning, whether they have this technology or not. The problem here is that Husqvarna didn't tell all the dealers the setup procedure and stopped including the field reset instructions in the owner's manual (because people were getting confused).

@@ForestApps no sir, I was talking about the crankshaft bearings. The cages break apart, blow up the seal on the clutch side and just to make things better they use proprietary bearings sizes, wich means that after the damn things fail, wich they will in a hurry, you'll have no other choice but to replace them with another thing that will fail, because you can't just put a regular 6202 bearing there. Let's just say that I'm cool with things breaking down, but what I'm not cool with is a company that will make a 500 bucks repair on a 700 bucks saw under waranty instead of giving me a brand new one. It's been 6 years now since I'm done with that "bonanza" and I've never been happier.

Sounds like a bunch of marketing crap. If a saw is constantly updating itself several times a second like they claim, you’d never have any need to idle one for 5 1/2 minutes and do a light rip cut in order to set itself. So which is it? Is it making constant adjustments? In which case you should just be able to give it the standard warm up and start making cuts. Or do you need to go through some stupid procedures every time the temperature changes? 🤦🏻‍♂️
@ForestApps
@ForestApps 4 ай бұрын
Once it’s calibrated by the Dealer or Operator - one time- it’s handling the task automatically. But it can change with fuel, elevation, bar length changes etc. They don’t, and you don’t, have a lot of choice in the matter. They have to comply with 2Stroke EPA standards. That’s why the Battery Saws are being pushed. If you know the simple calibration process it’s not an issue but though and not a lot to deal with it’s pretty automatic. Stihl’s M Tronic is similar situation.
@Matt-416
@Matt-416 9 ай бұрын
And.... If that doesn't work? Husky really needs to simplify the auto tune system. The swedes managed to over-engineer the Germans!! Lol A 45 second ripping cut is not always feasible, especially when in the brush, or when getting paid by the board-food. I agree that the electronic carburator systems are fantastic... When they work. Had a beast of a 562 that never had an issue (until the crank bearings completely let go at 12.1 hours). However, I have a 550 that's a basket case. Will not run right. Extremely rich and blowing smoke. Calibration would not work for more than a few cuts before it would bog and die in the cut. On my 4th dealer trying to fix it. Overall I've payed to replace the carb, ignition/wiring harness, crank bearings, flywheel, & muffler. Still pumping smoke and hates to idle before loading up and dying. 4.1 hours on it, and it's a two year old saw (thank goodness I still had my 346xp ne) Not to be a pain... But have you ever looked into Stihl's m-tronic recalibration procedure? It's quite a bit simpler and is ACTUALLY explained in the owners manual.

@@ForestApps I don't blame the manufacturer. Lemons happen. Same as bad cops get through, bad shower heads.. It happens. I've run other 550 and prefer the feel over the Stihl 261. Mine just happened to be a pain. It happens. I absolutely loved my 562xp. Husky sealed bearings are a disaster. I can't pay $800 to fix a two year old $1,000 saw. I'm only attached to my 550 because my father gave it to me for a Christmas present, so it has sentimental value. I could digress on the blatant missteps of Husqvarna in these 500 series of saws. But I'm sure you know more than I do. Phenomenal saws.... Until compared to.... Well, pretty much anything. Echo is outselling them. 70% reduction in Husqvarna dealer support over 4 years, heavier saws, convoluted electronics, weak bearings,.. a 39mm stroke in a 70cc saw!!?? Same stroke as a 90cc 066 and 390... Why? Didn't McCullough do that? Exactly how did that work out for them? I really think Husqvarna is dying. The only thing the diagnostic tool does is wipe the computer data. Great video. I currently have a new 592xp and I'm really curious as to whether autotune has a break in setting that runs the saw slightly rich for the first so many hrs or tanks of fuel before readjusting to the optimal setting? Currently have new 562 and 550 mk2 aswell. I do notice the 592 seems a bit rich at idle and at speed when new, currently on my 7th or 8th tank of fuel in it. Thiscwould make sense, as when you purchase new carbed saw, they send them out rich and you are supposed to readjust after 10 tanks to optimal setting. I wonder if someone could ask Husqvarna? Thanks, Dan

The Auto Tune makes sure the mixture is correct and no overspending. It would be to the rich side if any. It’s not necessary to run richer or slower speeds as long as the bar and chain is loaded in the wood. What does your owner manual on the 592xp recommend?

I had to agrue with an acme guy when i bought mine. Between them and Ace they like to take the saws to the back and fire them up throttle em uo then shut them off. They dont realize what they are doing. I told the guy at Acme, if you take that saw to the back ill take my business elsewhere. I dont sell promote or advertise, im just a guy that has done my research. They need to do a better job of telling dealers how to do this procedure.

Biggest thing was when took back to dealer. They played with it. Never ran. Right. But every husky since has.

Why play silly music when you're tuning this? Can't tell how it's meant to sound.

Because the sound of the saw was clipping in the recording and it sounded worse than the music. Sorry.

@@ForestApps ok. I would rather hear the engines than elevator music though but fair enough.

@@ForestAppsDepending on the device, you might be able to have a backup audio recording (automatically records a backup at a lower level, great if you can only do 24 bit float) or use a lossless 32 bit float and drop the volume below clipping levels in editing.
