I LOVE being alone. I prefer it actually. And if I cannot be alone, I prefer to be with others on the same vibrational frequency. I’m in a situation at the moment where I do not have to engage with a bunch of people so I AM very thankful for that. Those moments when I do have to be in the presence of those who are still ego driven, I find myself (more and more) not participating in the gossip or negativity. I will get up and walk out of the room. And when I can’t do that, I put in my headphones and watch videos on KZbin or music and will remove myself mentally.

I think a better question is, "How do I maintain presence?" regardless of where you are and who you are with. If remaining present and aware is a spiritual practice that you employ all the time, then whether you are with unconscious people or not will not make a difference. In other words, practice presence all the time; whether you are alone, at work, with your spouse, with friends, working out, taking a shower, or in an extremely toxic situation. There really shouldn't be any circumstance where you aren't present. If you approach life this way, you will remain in this present state of awareness and not get easily swayed from other external energies. You will be very grounded in your state of being and very aware of your thoughts and emotions. You will have fine tuned your sense of awareness to such a high degree that being around toxic situations will bring out other higher responses from you. These higher responses include: stillness, acceptance of the present moment (not wanting to change it), compassion for the person that is suffering, and/or depending on the circumstance, helping the individual or removing oneself from the situation. There really is no perfect response, but if you do make presence an every moment spiritual practice, then being in uncomfortable situations doesn't really translate to being 'uncomfortable' anymore. You instead have increased your awareness and energetic capacity to remain still and aware to be firmly grounded and secure in your being. When you can weather any kind of storm you know that you have evolved into a higher state of consciousness altogether.

@@officialdamnmoodi3283 It really takes a commitment to the process of staying present in this moment and then the next, etc. I started practicing stopping thinking whenever I remembered and was determined to make this my daily intention. I am so glad that after years of being determined to not let the negative ,repetitive and unnecessary thinking dominate my life, I am in a continual state of being present and when I want to think, I do so but I know what am thinking about and immediately stop thinking if it has no value. My life is soo much more peaceful and effective and effortless. It’s a very difficult thing to do. But I’m more determined now than ever to not let the unobserved mind run my life, given the horrible damage in peoples life when they are a victim of being lost in thought.
@clarissavaida40582 жыл бұрын
@@joeyondakeys Most people are so caught up with non stop thinking they don’t have a choice whether to be present or not, that is, they don’t know there is a choice. I can understand sometimes choosing to focus on what you are thinking, especially when it is a pleasant experience, instead of being present. I find I can be present and be aware of what I’m thinking at the same time. ET talks about the unobserved mind as being potentially problematic, not necessarily being present as a state of being, but choosing to have thoughts when necessary or maybe in your case when you are enjoying the thought process. I think the why though boils down to human nature, but the important thing is that you are able to make the choice in the first place. Cheers, Joey!

To be amongst others is to influence and be influenced by others. Even aiming to be flexible is another way to become the opposite. No aim, no wrong, no right. Accepting what is, means to think about what is. No thought neccessary, but still thought arises whether neccessary or not. Nothing can be told how to be. In case of the leaf blower or if they destroy Nature by cutting trees, its time to tell that this is not the right way! Cant accept that unconsious egos destroy the world! In six months travelling in Central America I found only one place where I felt that Nature was happy! Means where wilderness is real. My goal is that there ll be new expierience rooms in Nature, instead of schools, where the kids understand own feelings and needs and communicate them like in NVC - so they can understand each other and there ll be no more wars! The first rule must be that we have to contribute in each others luck ❤ in a true human way! Love this place with lucky beings❤ I want to live in harmony and that means to listen also if there is a conflict. To stay in a unpersonal condition is still challenching because these situation appear when I dont aspect them, because I thought people are more aware, but thats still an illusion. Not my brother not my sister but its ne o Lord staying in the need of prayer ❤! And if its to bad and there is no solution, because there is no way to communication I leave! The more I become conscious the harder it is to deal with "normal human unconsciousness". Fortunately, those around me are somewhere along the line of growing consciousness. There is a temptation to withdraw from much of human interaction. That said, there is also pleasure in just being light-filled and calm during normal human interactions as well. Kind of "sharing" my contentment and calmness through my voice and posture. Disturbing interactions are decreasing as I grow more calm within myself. I am now able to sense the tension and anxiety often (not always) washing across me or even through me in situations that might once have been unsettling--or even a full clash of egos.

Tread carefully around toxic people. You can fall in the sticky tar and it's difficult to work your way out. Best advice "remove yourself" if you're ruminating and in emotional turmoil. Save yourself and send out a life raft from distance. Be careful.

Yep, some will try to goad you into their madness and you also end up toxic if not careful. Watch your reaction from 'afar' or just switch off or avoid them altogether.

I deleted my previous comment here. It was two years and I changed my mind on it. Unconsciousness around will show you how good you can deal with life challenges that's true. Sometimes we are "forced" to be with people who are at low level of self development. (You have to go to work place for instance). When you are there - be there. Learn how to ignore what has to be ignored. How to accept what has to be accepted. How to leave situation when it has to be leaved. I am in special need right now for some work place which offers me a part time hours, because I need that for the school I just started. However, this place contains one of the greatest unconsciousness I have ever had to face. They are constantly asking you to work faster and very hard, and they are very nervous about it. it can be said that they are very future-oriented in their activities. Despite this, I don't get drawn into it - this crazy rush, I do my thing at my own pace and I don't consider it a bad thing, although I know that they see it differently, because they have already let me know. What's important is that I don't fight with them about it, I tell them that I'm trying, I'm doing what I can, etc., I don't offer resistance to what they are saying to me, because they are not my enemies. I don't know if they will fire me from that place at some point for not being fast enough, or will give me some other tasks to do, but I am sure that if my behaviour towards them was different, then it would be a matter of time when. Still I am sure but I may be wrong about it. The most important factor is how do I feel and I am feeling okay thanks to being in alignment with myself.

So this is literally saving me in a way? Seeing this video. Almost like my prayer has been answered in a way. And I can’t explain it other then, this is the beginning again, to finding my way back. Eckharts advice is a lot like the premise behind the very successful Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This theorizes that some trigger happens (big city vibes / leaf blower / London Metro), then you start thinking about that (negatively / judging / revolting), and only then does it register emotionally and influence your state of mind. These emotions can then become a trigger themselves kicking you into a spiral of negativity (or euphoria if you were listening to music or observing a beautiful bird for example). The only ways to stop this is to remove / avoid the trigger or change your thinking. The second is the most universally effective way but requires training because its not what most of us are taught to do.

"Accepting what is", "deep surrendering ", "completely ok with it"... "oh, that's what is", .... 💞👍🤗🙌🌸 That's what works, yes. And I very much feel love instead of anger with these practices we were taught on here. I've been practicing consciousness in these ways with toxic people for over 37 years. I am 58. So most of my adult life. And I would say even a lot as a child and teen. But definitely understood the concept of consciousness during toxic times only 37 years ago. Other than the list given on this channel today I would add that to remain conscious in toxic times I "step outside" of the person that I am, as if I'm a spectator only, and thereby not able to react. The toxic person or egoic person is not affecting me as I have stepped outside of the flesh so to speak, and have a place standing outside of my person. In that place outside of my person, it is calm and peaceful. And when I come back into my person, I am bringing the calm and peace with me to my flesh being. So the soul and the flesh match in the presence of peace and understanding and love. That's the best I can put it in words. And definitely what was taught here to "take home" with everyone today is that surrender is a power. Not a weakness. And when you learn that and understand that surrender and acceptance is your power card, you want to use it regularly, and daily and you'll feel love and peace as byproducts of surrender. Humility is just as similar. Remaining humble, taking the idea of acceptance and surrender is power . Use them. And feel love, peace, and freedom and tranquility as you maintain these powers. I'm not perfect at it at all times, but I enjoy practicing it daily over 37 years. And it works for me.

This was a good reminder. He added to what he has said in his books and it was helpful. Love that waterfall scene at the end. So peaceful. Sometimes I bring a waterfall scene into my mind during very stressful situations or around unconscious people I am experiencing it from behind a waterfall. Part of the big problem around world situations or people is the resistance as he says. "This shouldn't be happening. I should be living on a different planet". I have survived much of my life just by knowing there are other planets and worlds where consciousness is more evolved. That helps long term LOL.

So true, when your able to enjoy your own company you internally become stronger and from my own perspective, it actually draws people towards you especially when you remain free and quiet from those who seek attention. It’s also easier to observe peoples behavior and let go of those who are in lower vibrations. We all experience lower vibrations from time to time but if we remain aware we can improve.

I felt very similar feelings to this woman. I've tried and worked hard for about 5-6 years with mantras like: "I dont judge and hate, and I dont judge and hate those who judge and hate." And "acceptence is the key". It work in immidiate interaction with unconsios people, but in the long run I felt like to much of my energy and time (meditations dedicated to this) went to try to accept people/situiations/ect that was not alligne with ME. So I made a decision to move out to the countryside, started working as a personal assistent to an old sweet lady, got 5 loving bunnies and doing gardening, yoga, meditation, doing music, buildning/renovating my house and only invite people in my space that I share similr values with. I dont have much money, but I dont spend much money either. I believe that if to much of your focus goes into trying to accept everything, instead of enjoying, then you are not living the life that is meant for you, thats my thoughts on the topic. Greeting from a 29-year old.❤

Thank you for this explanation. Though I love your teachings and from the first time I ever heard them, something inside me knew them to be true and so I listen to them almost everyday and try to practise them as best as I can. However there were times I'd become very angry and negative because I felt that they weren't realistic. This because I was the scapegoat in my very toxic pathologically sociopathic family, and no amount of presence or love could help. But because of your teachings about being present in the face of unconscious people and present when another's pain body arose my escape from them and my recovery was hindered considerably and indeed it almost cost me my life. You see when a person has been born and raised in such a family and psychologically manipulated into staying in the family in adulthood due to a family business and them needing help etc, so the psychological abuse continues through adulthood, it is very difficult for such a person to discern things due to the split created in the person. So I looked to spiritual teachers people like you for help. And when spiritual teachers are always preaching things like forgiveness and love and the connectedness of all things etc without explaining that yes some people are just too toxic and even if they are family members if your physical mental and or emotional safety are at risk you can remove yourself from them then it puts people like myself at risk of being badly harmed and even destroyed totally. So thank you for that clarification and I would appreciate it if you could speak more on these extremely toxic people who even cause permanent damage other peoples mental health and even cost them their lives because many of us are born into families like this.

I have a similar family background with the great oxymoron called family business. From my experience, you as an adult must make a serious decision with family.members to either stay around family if and only if family is working to honestly improve from the past in bonafide steps to your satisfaction OR you must give the gift of leaving family members behind if things are truly still toxic and not improving. You then have the choice to see real friends to your satisfaction as well as make a solemn oath to make improvements in your life with explicit goals on your terms now. As an adult, you now have the power to be yourself into the future and seek help from people good to you taking responsibility to chart your life, to own personal mistakes while learning in steps, and to realize your goals with time and effort forward.

It has been years of struggle and frustration.. I’ve finally realized I had to surrender and flow. Learning detachment is also a very large part of what’s helped me. I was confused by what it meant to let go and surrender until my recent Ayahuasca experience. I had a lot of physical pain. I had a choice in each moment to be consumed by the pain and complain incessantly in my head until it was over or I could stop resisting and just be in the moment with each breath with gratitude and humility. It’s always a choice IF we are conscious. And then forgiving ourselves when we catch ourselves complaining and no longer in the moment. She mentions a growing sensitivity to being aware when she’s not conscious. This is a good sign and an indicator of expanding awareness. I’m sending love to you all. The key to humanity lies with people like you…..

Wow, very interesting discussion! Great question. I have experienced all the things you both talked about. I live in a mostly quiet family oriented residential area within a fairly large city, but I also have noticed energetically heightened activity midweek. I had not realized this could be the collective energy of people around me. That is a helpful insight. I have learned from my yoga classes about accepting what is. One day we had the same experience of a leaf blower disturbing our peaceful yoga restfulness. Our yoga teacher said exactly the same thing - accept anything that appears as being part of the meditation process which we can simply observe and not react to. Of course we had to endure the 5 or 10 minutes the noise continued, but it did go away and then quietness returned again for the rest of the yoga session. Sometimes when things like that happen, it helps to laugh about it. A leaf blower starting up at the exact moment you are practicing quietude just might be one of those paradoxes of the Universe, presenting the opportunity I suppose to practice our spiritual techniques.

Recently, I took a friend to the Emergency Room, and we needed to wait several hours. In the room next to the one we were in, there was a young man struggling with some kind of drug or alcohol episode. He often cried out, literally bounced off the walls, was alternately becoming angry and in despair. There were 2 police officers waiting outside his room, there to ensure the safety of the hospital staff and others nearby. This went on for several hours. On top of my worry about my friend, this was pretty challenging to me. After a while I just began to say, internally, take away his pain, take away his pain, take away his pain. I did this in small part because I wanted his disturbance to end so I didn't have to hear it, but mostly I wanted his pain to be over so his life was easier. After about half an hour, he began to quiet down, and within an hour, he was quiet. I'm still puzzling over this. Was my energy expanding into his space? I was completely concentrating on being present with that situation and that thought.

It is important to have a practical way to embody awareness. Really important to be the influence and not be influenced. When we find our true centre, who can knock us off it? That’s impossible. If we are surrounded by ‘unconscious’ people that is not your issue. Do not judge. Remain in your awareness. But do not judge, as this will take you right off centre into a place that if you were truly conscious you would not go.

"The power of Knowledge is with you. The Presence is with you. But everything in the world that has dominated you in the past and that dominates you now is also with you. And these things are leading you in different directions. Therefore, during your time of preparation, particularly at the outset, you will have to limit your exposure to people, places and certain things. This will require great restraint and great discretion, things that most people do not possess, for they do not have the strength to exercise these things. Here even your hobbies or your recreation must be reconsidered. Is it truly beneficial for you mentally and physically? Does it really give you reprieve? Does it really give you rest? Does it support your engagement with Knowledge? Or is it a form of escape, a running away? Many things actually fit this category and serve this purpose. Refrain from going to the movies, as they imprint you and fill your mind with powerful images that will make it more difficult for you to still your mind and begin to explore your inner life. See what music does for you. Rather than playing it all the time, see what kind of emotions, thoughts and feelings it arouses. Is it truly beneficial for you? Or does it remind you of your suffering, your longing, your desires, your disappointments? All these things must be re-evaluated because everything is having an influence upon you, and that influence is either helpful or a hindrance. Understanding this, then, gives you the criteria to re-evaluate all the things, people, places and influences in your life in a more objective manner, with greater clarity and discernment. If you are to have the freedom to live a life of greater purpose and integrity, you must gain this freedom, which has been lost to so many things. You must re-evaluate who you are with and what you do, how you spend your time and where your mind tends to go, and the influence and the effect of your activities upon you. Here you will see that many things that before seemed innocuous, or even pleasurable, really are a hindrance. This is really about becoming truly honest with yourself. It is not about having one perspective versus another perspective. This is not about having one belief or set of beliefs versus other sets of beliefs. It is really about becoming honest with yourself, honest at a deeper level. What is really the truth about your involvement with this person or this activity or this form of engagement with the world? To be really honest, you will see if something is beneficial or not, and you will see how and even if you must be engaged with it. Taking the Steps to Knowledge is a process of becoming truly honest with yourself and as a result honest with others-honest in your pursuits, honest in your values, honest in your communication with others, honest in what goals you set for yourself and why you set them. Honest. Knowledge is deep and simple because it is wholly honest. You are complex and confused because you are not yet wholly honest. Knowledge is strong, focused and powerful. Your mind is diffused, confused and set in opposing directions because you are not yet fully honest. You have not really come to terms with what you most deeply know and your true direction in life, which is all the product of becoming truly honest. It is not about having a better belief system. It is not about perspective. It is not about opinions and ideas, for that is all at the surface of the mind. We are speaking of something that is far deeper than the surface of your mind, something that is intrinsic to your nature-that which has brought you into the world and that which you will reflect upon once you leave this world, that which is most elemental and fundamental to your being here. As you take the Steps to Knowledge, you will have [the] opportunity to extend your honesty into new areas and to reconsider things you have always assumed or believed in without question. It is a very deep evaluation. Here you will begin to see that which is harmful and that which is helpful. Here you will value simple pleasures. And you will see the danger and the hazard of giving your mind and life away to things that have no real promise or purpose for you. Let this be your understanding." An excerpt from *Harmful Influences* - a teaching from 'The New Message from God' - as revealed to Marshall Vian Summers.
