From Oklahoma: My piano tuner is always amazed at how well my Baldwin upright holds it tune from one annual tuning to another. When the weather gets cold enough to turn on the central heat the humidity drops to about 20%. I put a room humidifier in the music room and add about a gallon of water daily. This keeps the humidity at about 50%. Works great. My technician has advised his other clients to do the same, but so far none have. Thanks Robert.

I have my mother’s 1951 Steinway L in my tiny back room. Closed up with acoustic blankets and cover so as not to aggravate the neighbors in the condo. Better than not having it at all!

Thanks Robert! Living in the humid South can certainly affect the tuning. But I’ve noticed, too, during the winter months, when the humidity is lower, this can have an affect on tuning/sound for my Baldwin R…not as warm sounding. Also, I keep a thermometer and a hydrometer inside the piano.

I am afraid that the only viable option for me is a digital piano at home and access to Yamaha C7 at the church close by 😊 Thank you, Michael
