Just a little feedback after I rebuilt my 4” GEN 1 portals today. This video helped immensely! AND I didn’t have a press. So a butane torch, workbench with a vice and a deadblow hammer works perfect! Takes a little effort with the bearing on the output shaft but it will come off! Lol... I just rebuilt the front two. (Half a day on first portal being cautious, then an hour and a half on the second portal. Once I get the front of the ranger back together I will pull and rebuild the 2 rear portals. This was new territory to me but it is super easy and straight forward, so don’t fret first timers! Take your time, make sure everything is clean and everything seats correctly, it isn’t rocket science. Take pictures while tearing them down if it helps you. Thanks Super ATV!!!

Oh and I agree with the other comments, hit the bearings on the outer race to seat them in the housing! Do not hit on the inner race. You can/will damage your bearings if you have luck like mine!

How many miles they last before needing rebuild, I'm in a serious debate with myself getting portals.

Why is there sealed bearings inside a gearbox full of oil?

I have gen 3 portals from GDP the seals leak since installed GDP sent a seal kit and have had them all changed by same install company to no avail still leaking. Very disappointed in them.

One of mine is doing the same thing. Satv said Bad bearing so I’m fixing to tear down and change all the bearings see if that stops it.

Anyone know if I can remove and install output shaft seal with out actually tearing into the box?
@ryanhardiman23482 жыл бұрын
you ever figure this out?
@eloso719932 жыл бұрын
@@ryanhardiman2348 in theory you can take it off with out opening the box .. but in practicality it's pretty hard to remove it ... I tried with picks and what not but it just tore into pieces ... Finally just broke the box apart and it was way easier to just take apart the box. If somehow the seal comea off completely you can definitely slide the new one on with out opening the box .. then just tap it in to seat with a rubber mallet

@@eloso71993 Thanks for the quick reply. Assuming I'll have to do the same. One way or the other it's gonna happen here in a few days. Thanks again for the info

Gent’s, put your bearings in the deep freezer over night, heat the bearing area of the case with the propane torch and they will drop right in….

Your oil will tell u when to rebuild, in my case the seal lets me know by the water ect in the oil.
