Thank you Julia! Our baby shower was yesterday and these rattles were a huge hit. No one saw the flaws I had in the rattles. .I gave credit to Julia for their charm but people still said “how did you do that.” I am so glad I did not give up when I had a few issues in the beginning. My sister had the super idea of putting them in clear cellophane gift bags and giving them away to guests - which we did and they eagerly took. The two children at the shower were enthralled. Tip- use new stamps to get a clean image. Thank You! Julia.
@JuliaMUsher Жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it was a success! Not sure I understand your tip, however. I use stamps of all ages (some bought years ago and others bought a lot more recently) and get good, crisp results pretty predictably. Just be sure you're not using clear stamps (which can sometimes repel food coloring), apply the coloring sparingly with an ink pad, and clean the stamp between applications of coloring. You can sometimes get away with stamping two or three times without cleaning, but as the coloring accumulates, the stamped imprint loses definition, and you can get too much coloring on the cookie. Perhaps what you meant by "new" was "clean"??
@emiliamartucci8291 Жыл бұрын
@@JuliaMUsher I purchased 2 used rubber stamps from eBay: a little rattle and a baby duck. I put one image on each side of the hemisphere. I kept getting color around the background of the imprint of the duck. I incorrectly assumed that the duck stamp was a bit “flattened out” from use causing it smear. I would sometimes wipe the flat background around the duck stamp with a paper towel after I had put ink on it in order to keep it from smearing. I see now from your comment that it was my inexperience. I have fondant left over so I am going to practice with it based on your advice above. Oh by the way - one the guests texted yesterday that the gingerbread rattle was also delicious. And since you are here, I want to say that pre Covid I made your holiday napkin rings for Xmas using your sugar cookie dough. They were gorgeous! Thank you for the joy your teaching skill and cookie talent brings.
@JuliaMUsher Жыл бұрын
@@emiliamartucci8291 The raised part on some stamps is also more shallow than on others, which can make it easier to also ink that background area and get a halo; if it's a self-adhesive stamp and this is a problem, I sometimes cut away as much of the background part of the stamp as I can. Try not to rock the stamp in the pad too much either, because you can then ink the edges and sides of the stamp. But wiping it off is fine too; just a bit of a hassle. Thanks for the kind words!

Julia, when you re-ink your foam stamp pads, try spreading the ink using a knife or old credit card (properly washed, of course). A knife (or other non-porous object) spreads the ink evenly without wasting so much by blotting the excess ink away with a paper towel. :) Keep up the beautiful designs!

Julia - your work is so inspiring - even when it serves as a "jumping off point". I'm currently using your flooding technique to do a huge batch of Easter Cookies. I've been a home cake decorator for 30+ years, so I know my way around a pastry bag, but your parchment icing bag tutorial is fab for cookies. I noticed in another comment that you don't sell your cookies anymore. When I see the work involved in these items I always think " this woman must have some seriously wealthy clients", and hey - celebrities would order this sort of item from an Uber-expert like you, because you would have to charge $30. or more for each of these pieces of edible art. Anyway...thanks for sharing your wisdom, expertise and amazing ideas with your YT fans. Gorgeous as always.

Hello! …and Thank you so much for your tutorial videos on cookies. Baking cookies is mainly a hobby (which my family members have taken full advantage of 🤦🏻♀️😅). My question is, I try to find the silicone molds you use for making the dome , but I don’t find the individual ones..only the multiple layout. Do you cut the silicone mold? Again, thank you so much for your time on making these videos 🤗🥰
@JuliaMUsher2 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome. Yes, I cut the molds for easier handling of individual cookies, which, unfortunately, makes it harder to use them for their original purpose (molded desserts).
