In this video I show how to make a 80's synthwave track! After a deep research in the 80's culture, I think i've found a way of remake the classical sound that we all love... and combining it with a new remix!
Enjoy!

Well first off, I pretty sure Synthwave isn't from the 80s so it is "Modern Synth Pop" do an extent. And it's not trying to copy the pop music of the 80s, but to capture a feeling of that decade through the lens of movies and shows. Throwing synths in is one of the best and easiest ways of doing it as Synths became popular during the 80s and therefore gives the feeling of the old Roland's and Moog's. This track kinda loses the feeling with the vocals and the effects.

@@KulibobCZ Both Blinding Lights and this song on the video are not remotely close to synthpop or synthwave, both would be considered popwave which derived from synthwave but uses modern sounds from 2010s pop. There is a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to many synth genres, synth pop sounds extremely different and is nowhere near close to sounding like this. Same with Synthwave, I'd highly reccomend you listen to Mitch Murders song Prime Operator, that's what pure synthwave sounds like from when it was just starting out.

Hey. Just wanted to say that this is more likely considered as Outrun than Synthwave. Synthwave is chill with bpm ranging from 60-90. Outrun is like Eurobeat - fast paced and lively (120+ bpm) I made a lot of synthwave before. Here's my awarded by DJtechs track I made a while ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6WzdZKsjd93hsk Edit: I know that you did the track in 88 bpm but the drums and arps are making it feel twice as fast. I do not want to hate though. I love the final product.

Can you give an example with a result number ? This is in ms ?

@@stnkr_5508 Yes ms, so e.g. 60 000 / 120 divided by 4 (or just divide by 120*4) gives you a quarter-note release time of 125 ms, which tends to work well. Other time divisions might work better in some situations, but you usually want something related to the tempo to make the comp pump in time with the beat :)

this doesn't sound 80's even remotely. And there's no such thing as "80's Synthwave", Synthwave is a 2000's genre inspired by 80's.

alexwestconsulting right. The genre is called “80s Synthwave”. Because Synthwave was created in the 21st century to emphasis synth-dominant music from the 70s-90s. 80s is the specificity of subgenre. Nice try though.
