How to Make a 2D Animatable Face in Unreal Engine

I made a video before going over how to make a 2D animatable face in Blender, but that doesn't work for unreal engine. In this video I show what I think is the best way to make something that works for Blueprints, Montages, and probably the sequencer.

I don't understand how you made the update face function and the reference to eye parameter and mesh. I followed it all the way till 2.58 and then I fell off. Could you explain the update face function please? :)

I made the update face functions in the blueprint for the character. The mesh is from the skeletal mesh component that all characters have, and the parameter reference is from the dynamic material instance that was made.

When you say Unreal cant quite do that, do you mean import 2D face rigs done in Blender?

You can import face rigs into Unreal, but Unreal doesn't have the same nodes as Blender, so you can't just flip through faces by using the image node, as that's only in Blender.

can you make a similar tutorial on a self-made engine, yknow, just pure basics if you find an engine for free just to show off how to make it without a known one, unless u dont want to

Are you asking this guy to make a game engine? You'll need to make your own material system if you want to do that.

neat vid will give it a try, BUT is your throat OK? try ginger and honey , if that dont help try strong alcohol ,atlast 50%+ . If that dont help you will need surgery

Thanks for your concern. My vocal cords got damaged after I got severely sick, but I've been working to improve it, and it shouldn't ever sound like a dying wooden door again.
