We drill through coinage all the time here in the States. Who will know when the battery is glued together? I am experimenting with the larger pill bottles available from my local pharmacy to build higher capacity batteries that are rechargeable and CHEAP. I ran a loop close to the power lines to get about 18 volts through a full wave bridge rectifier, and a buck- boost circuit to charge them all. So it costs nothing to recharge them. I also ran a small mesh wire screen behind the newer power meter to shield me from broadband over power lines interferences. The power company complained, but there is no law that says I cannot do this so they are stuck with it. As long as it doesn't touch the meter or the drop line, there is nothing they can do. I got so tired of the nasty harmonics that BPL caused, I installed the mesh shield as a self defence measure. Great video!

I think... if you solder all the zinc washers together and then solder all the coppers together, you can then keep them immersed in electrolyte (using your waterproof container) to get more amperage, but lower voltage of course. Chain 10 together to get perhaps 10-12 volts? at the higher amperage. Lemon juice might be a better electrolyte. You might be able to charge it up when it runs down. (you will prob want to put cardboard or plastic mesh in between every part of it ? ) Did you ever get a reading on amps output ? Watts = V x Amps.

The problem with people who dont understand electronics making batteries is that they never measure the internal resistance and the current, which renders the battery useless. It's not just the voltage thats important. If the internal resistance is too large you wont be able to power anything.

Great video 👍🏻 quick question though, I always thought that batteries were just a way to store electricity, and if I’m right the battery shown in this video is giving out a voltage/ electric current, is that because of the electrolytes in the paper? or am I just really confused? 😅
@GoRepairs5 жыл бұрын
Batteries store chemical energy and it's the reaction of these chemicals that produces the electricity (they swap electrons). Electrolytes allow the electrons to pass from one chemical to the other (the elecricity bit). Hope that helps. :)
@firenagy88314 жыл бұрын
@@GoRepairs i know this might sound really stupid but i'm very curious about it, are the chemicals always producing electricity, and if so is it "going to waste" when not being used?
@GoRepairs4 жыл бұрын
@@firenagy8831 Yes the chemicals are still reacting once the battery is assembled, whether you use it or not. The reaction just lessens over time, as in this case, the metals oxidise and the paper dries out. Waste is a subjective term, but if you are worried about that then with my design you could just disaassemble it to stop it reacting and reassemble when required. Hope that helps. :)

Greetings Northern Chappy. Most interesting video - I am after a way of making voltage when at sea in a small boat - lots of electrolyte all around. Any ideas for a longer lasting than cardboard disk? What happens if you put several of the electrolyte-soaked disks together to hold more? May I suggest that you speak a tad slower for the foreign johnnies who aren't familiar with your speechstyle? But ta, good video.
