Jai, thank you so much for this! Purchased the pigment you listed and used 2.8% am having an issue where the top of the jars (bottom of mold) have a streaking look, but I’m mixing and mixing to the point where it was getting a little too thick to pour at one point. It’s only right at the top of the jar lip. Three jars done and all same thing. Any ideas?!!

if a silicone mold is too hard to fold over on its self, dust a little corn starch on the outside and it will keep it from gripping on itself.

@@upvibecandle the pot alone is coming out black. But there’s this weird ashy film appearing on top of the black.
@upvibecandle Жыл бұрын
@@Wondrouslybotanic That is weird but I wonder if it is efflorescence. Efflorescence is a crystalline deposit of salts. It occurs when water leaves behind salt deposits on or in the masonry surface. So, the question is... is there too much water in your mix or is it humid where you are working. Remember just because the temperature is cold doesn't mean it can't be humid. Try doing it again but with less water. If you can control the humidity try doing that as well. See how it goes and let me know.

Hi Jai, How are you getting 10g for the pigment? I’m one of those that isn’t good at math. My mold holds 280g of cement…so is that 70g of water and 5g of pigment? Lol so sorry if I’m way off . 🤦🏻♀️
@upvibecandle2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah, no worries. 5% of 280 = 14 grams. If you using Globmarble (link in the description) then going under 14 grams is fine. Globmarble color is no joke... so less is more. However, 14 grams is your answer. Hope that helps.

Is sealing required? I’m hoping for a matte finish at least on the outside. Would the effect the performance of the vessel or is there a matte sealant?
@upvibecandle2 жыл бұрын
If you are making candles yes. A sealant is to secure the contents on the inside don't seep out as well as anything from the inside penetrating back in. The outside isn't necessary but if you like the matte finish and you change sealants or textures on either the inside or outside is fine. Earth Safe Finishes makes a matte finish. Hope that helps.

Hello. Please can you answer this question for me. I have made small Ciment candle jars. And he started to cracked with the heat of the wick. Can you please send me a photo with the chemical mix of Ciment all? Kiss from Portugal.
@upvibecandle2 жыл бұрын
Cement All is made up CSA cement and silica sand. The probable reason your jars are cracking are most likely thermal or hydraulic in nature. However, being that they are cracking when you are adding heat it leads me to believe it is hydraulic. Are you adding too much water? How long is it curing for? If making changes to your formula doesn't work you can try adding heat resistant cement fibers. Hope that helps.

@@upvibecandle hello thanks God you replied, I was afraid you wouldn't. Thank you so much. Probably I am adding a little more water than I should. Hi Jerolina. Great question. Use 5% of the cement you are using. So if you are using 200 grams of cement then add in 10 grams of black pigment. Does that make sense?
