I love the information you provide on various liqueurs when you use them, i just want to add something about the curacao though, only one brand (senior curacao) is actually still made on curacao and using the laraha orange. all others do not use the laraha orange from the island of curacao, and are all made using other oranges or artificial flavoring. its hard to find but if you can get ahold of it, the senior curacao is absolutely fantastic.
@BarTalkCocktails6 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that about Senior Curacao. It sounds like an iconic liqueur that I need to try. Just one more thing to add to my list of alcohol essentials. Ha... I find the Liquor Control Board here where I live really fixed on what it chooses to bring into the country. There are so many great products out there that I just can't get my hands on. Personally, as far as Bols Blue Curacao is concerned, I am not a huge fan. It's too sweet and definitely has an artificial taste. But, the colour is fantastic. I guess that's why I use it even though it's laced with horrible blue dye. For me, it almost ranks up there with how much I love Peach Schnapps. If you follow my show, you know what I mean. Thanks so much for sharing. Cheers!

Made something like that the other day without knowing the name. 2 Flor de Caña-4 white Rum, 1 Dry Curaçao, 3 Pineapple juice, .5 Lime juice. Delicious and refreshing. I had pineapple juice where the pulp settled out so it was pretty clear. And then I strained it.
@BarTalkCocktails2 жыл бұрын
Sounds divine.
@goblinb3 жыл бұрын
I figured out a way to keep it more blue. When pineapple juice sits for a while it separates into a deep yellow, cloudy portion on the bottom and a clear, light yellow portion on top. I use the clear, light-colored portion in a Blue Hawaii. The drink definitely comes out more blue, turquoise to be exact. I also prefer this shaken.

I tried to make this tonight for the first time, I'm really amateur. Most of my family gave me a thumbs up only one person told me they liked it but that it tasted too sour? So any advice on what to alter to pull that back, all I could think of was less sour mix but idk if will alter it too much? Thank you for your videos :) cheers
@BarTalkCocktails4 жыл бұрын
Using less sweet and sour mix will help with the sour tang. You could also increase the blue curaçao for additional sweetness. Just keep experimenting. You'll find the right combination of ingredients to suit your guests' palate. Cheers!

Is any of the music in the videos on KZbin? Specifically the Hawaiian guitar sounding one in this vid
@BarTalkCocktails3 жыл бұрын
That Hawaiian music is stock music from a stock music service. If you're looking for Hawaiian music search for Hawaiian Steel Guitar. There's lots of good stuff out there.
@adambromley69723 жыл бұрын
@@BarTalkCocktails Thanks I will do. Love the sound and always looking for some more stuff to add to my music collection. It reminds of of spongebob or Santo and Johnny, even a guitarist I know named dick dale invented “surf” guitar, not sure how into the genre you are but that tropical feeling is never a bad one. If you wanted to check any out I’d recommend Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny if you don’t already know it of course.
@BarTalkCocktails3 жыл бұрын
@@adambromley6972 Yeah, we just lost Dick Dale last year. He was 81. He certainly was a big influence on many guitarists. And the song Sleepwalk, I forgot about that one. I remember hearing it when I was a kid. Everybody and their brother has covered it but, the original is still pretty sweet.

Now, I'm old enough (sadly) that during my military time (IN Hawaii, I might add) that I happened to ENCOUNTER Harry Yee at the end of his career...and LOVED the ever-popular Blue Hawaiian...but when I drank the ones that HE MADE, they were over LARGE cubes, mixed in a pitcher, minimal (if any) orange juice/fruit juice, and they were VERY CLEAR...translucent...and tasted VERY MUCH like the blue 'icey push-up treats' that kids enjoy in the summer...in fact, other than the blatant RUM taste, they could double for that blue icey kid's treat! The ones HE MADE were rum-based...and was why I'd go to the Hawaiian Village for his when off-duty...because everyone else's tasted like PAINT THINNER (I despise most vodka drinks...except for Spicy Bloody Mary's).

By the way...for ANYONE who likes a Screwdriver, try a 'Rum Sunset'...it's basically a Rum-based Screwdriver with 2-tbsp's of Grenadine added...AMAZING IMPROVEMENT on the Screwdriver!!!

Sorry, Harry never made a book of his cocktail recipes, at least to my knowledge. However, you will find a few of his recipes in some cocktail books. Most of his work is lost to history. I am in touch with Harry's daughter, Marilyn. She has been working on retrieving some of Harry's long lost recipes. Places, people, recipes, all that sort of thing. @BarTalkCocktails6 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one. Without alcohol the Blue Hawaii is simply pineapple juice and sweet and sour mix. You could try making my Blueberry Lavender Syrup. That would turn it blue but your drink wouldn't taste like a Blue Hawaii. Another thought is to add some butterfly pea flower powder. It's a natural food coloring.
