You seem to have the kind of lifestyle I aspire to have. The country setting of your home resonates with my soul. Your workshop is the kind I would like to have. You must be a very happy man indeed.

Thanks and I definitely am. Call it luck, good fortune or whatever, it’s been a blessing. I don’t want to misrepresent myself though, my home is in town. My shop that you see in the videos is definitely in that country setting, but I don’t own the property. The farm is family owned property, and I suppose one day it will be mine, but for now I do a lot of trade work, like the good old days, maintenance, repair, farm work and property management for some residential rental units on the farm in exchange for calling the workshop my own. I guess if you take out sleeping, with all the time I spend here working, I actually spend more time here on the farm and in my shop than I do at home, so I guess I am living that country lifestyle. But I’ll tell you what, it’s not about that though. It’s about following whatever your passion is and for me, one thing lead to another, and here I am. If you ever find yourself on this side of the world, you’ll have to come by the farm. We can do a project together, maybe you can teach me some hand carving skills. It would be an uphill battle for you though, my hand tool skills are abysmal, and you should see my chisels, shameful.

This is so cool how you are letting your son join in on your projects! We have the strong value of teaching kids “real life” skills and spending bonding time with them! I love that you value you this too. We just subscribed and look forward to watching more videos of you and your son working on projects together!

What's the thickness of the dowels you're using? I need to make 120 of these for a marching band show. Looking for the cheapest solution, but they need to look authentic from a distance. Since they don't need to last long we're considering painted PVC pipes. Any advice?

This was a while ago, I don’t remember. And like a dummy I didn’t mention it in the video or in the video description. My advice would be run down to the hardware store or Home Depot, and take a look. Go with whatever size feels natural in your hand. Sorry I couldn’t help more but good luck anyway

Check that. I just remembered this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYPYgIFmh7lsZqs where I made nunchucks too. 1-1/8” is the diameter

Hello, what type of wood did you use? My grandson is a black belt and the bo staffs are quite expensive. This is a great project. Thanks for posting.

Hey thanks, it was a lot of fun making the bo staff with my son. And it’s impressive to watch him do his ninja thing. And maybe yes on the sword and sais, Skyler kind of thinks he’s a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, and we already have the nunchucks and bostaff, might as well complete the TMNT set.
