Some important notes for actually following this pattern: 1. Cradle/frame should have center front marked on the left edge. Fold your fabric in half and align it to the fold, you should have one piece of symmetrical fabric. 2. Same with band, center back should be marked on right edge. Cut this on fold. 3. Best practice is to mark grainlines on the pattern pieces to ensure your fabric lines up straight. If you don’t cut the pattern pieces facing the same direction, they will twist and not lie nicely when you wear it. Draw parallel lines up and down on each pattern piece. When you cut the fabric, make sure those lines are parallel with each other and align to the grain of the fabric.

This is a wonderful video for anyone who wants to make their own bra. Easy to follow tutorial and the presenter has a calm, pleasant way of speaking. Struggled for years to find a bra that fits properly so I hope this pattern will work for me.

Questions: 1: How do you know to make a 1 inch dart? 2: How do you know that your upper cup starts 1.5inches down? 3: How do I get my measurement for the side? 4: How do I determine the neck depth? I ask because I am a larger woman and have lots of side boob fat that needs contained and that is one of my biggest fights with a store bought bra...

Hi Lil I wish I could send a voice note to answer your question hope this will help I use 1 inch dart for standard measurements based on the the bra I've made for different size. as for 1,5 inch down I used it for the bra coverage i prefer, you can go as high or low you want based on your preference also . How much you want your bra to cover your chest. I know how you would want answers to this question but hopefully this will answer the question you have asked.

You have a lovely persona for YT, my dear…and this info is invaluable to all of us who are trying to reach “bra heaven”! Deep inside - you are a structural engineer! I am unendingly irritated by the cost of decent undergarments and the awful differences when comparing sizes between manufacturers. It’s soooo not fun to shop for bras!!💕 I’ve been looking for a new sewing project - this looks like it!!

I am xcited to try this but I do have a question but first some understanding..I have had a breast reduction so my nipples are not near center, lower measurement from underbust to nipples is 7 3/4 inches. My upper bust is not as “full”. Funny male surgeon thinks high nipples are important. Bras don’t fit in anyway. Do you have any tips or tricks that could help me?

If I wanted to make this out of non--stretch material, other than adding back the 1" in the band, what adjustments would you make?

Hi Frith you can make the cups and frame with non stretch material but I would suggest the band be cut on a stretch, I would suggest lycra fabric for the band.

Thank you for lesson. How to calculate the base of the chest for the frame? Is the base of the chest equal to the vertical diameter or the transverse diameter? Thank you!

The base or frame is calcuted according to the bust measurements then later on close the dart to accommodate the cups as for the band the measurements differ with 1 inch deference course stretch material will be used,hope this helps 😊.

So if i am close set at the front do i just give myself less room at CF? And if fuller in bottom do i just make the upper dart a little bigger?

Hi yes since your close on the center you can make your pattern narrow on the center front.

As for the upper cup you can increase the neckline for more caverage but as for the dart it stays the same,hope this is helpful. Happy sewing!!!
