How to make a chimney pipe roof flashing can be very useful. Most roofing manufacturers only provide an ugly galvanized chimney pipe flashing that is poorly made and will not stand the test of time.

Got a 👍 I have a stove roof ventilation vent that's NOT in center of the metal roof panel, it's close to the rib, I see where some create a "box" that is lifted ABOVE the rib & then allows for a typical vent boot to be fastened TO such box and the vent boot is in the CENTER of the box, this looks like to me HOW & the BEST way to solve my leak, I CAN measure the angle of the roof relative to the pipe coming out of the roof etc, is there ANYONE who can make me such a box that I can just located OVER the RIB interference seal it & screw it to the roof? I mean I DON'T mind if such can be made out of thicker metal or aluminum if it will solve my problem

onsite with no laptop I have done this layout. Its great to know how to do this. At home or in the shop I use sketchup to model the cone and a plugin called unwrap and flatten faces then do a 1 to 1 scale print to make a pattern. great video

I watched this video a couple of times to understand why you were doing what you were doing then made a template so I can run a chimney in my shed for a forge. I love doing trig and how anything can be made with angles and curves if you know their relation. This screwed me over while I was a machinist because all compound angles in the manual mills got passed on to me 😆 thanks so much

There were actually 2 takes to this video..my first go around was a complete disaster....but doing so made me dig into my notes from trade school and re-learn something I had forgotten....these videos have that effect on me and I like it ..it keeps me current

Great video. Try calculating the curvature of a sphere with a circumference of 25,000 miles. Then go to the beach or a grate lake, compare a straight edge to your left-to-right view of the water, and decide if you think we are living on a ball.
