How To Make a CHINESE FRIED RICE TAKEOUT CAKE and FORTUNE COOKIES | Yolanda Gampp | How To Cake It

To make my Chinese Fried Rice Takeout Cake, I stacked and filled my fave Ultimate Chocolate Cake layers with Italian meringue buttercream, covered it all in White fondant and decorated the sides with hand-painted characters that spell ëCAKE' in Mandarin & Cantonese. Then, I filled the box with trail mix ìfried riceî and added some gumpaste chopsticks & fortune cookies on the side for dessert! Talk about a TALL order!

Danielle Zepess Fondant and gum paste don't actually taste very good lol! It's like bitter, over sweetened sugar if that makes sense. Most people don't eat them. However, if you do like the taste of fondant and gum paste then go for it! I'm sure it'll be good :)

That could be fun! Also, it really depends on the brand of fondant/gum paste as to whether or not they taste bitter. Because there are few other flavourings aside from a little vanilla or none at all, any preservatives in it will come out in taste. I make my own fondant and gum paste and it really just tastes like soft candy.

This comment is regarding all the other comments about how she placed the chopsticks. It's obvious that if she knew it was disrespectful to leave them in the food she would have never done it. She even made sure and did her research to make sure the spelling was correct on the box in order to not offend anyone. If your not from Asia or don't have friends or family there, more than likely you are not going to know this. My sister in law and her family are all from there and I am around them all the time I I didn't even know this until I saw that comment. Yes, it does say "cake". btw, you said that it says cake in both Mandarin and Cantonese. Those are both spoken languages, the characters are the same. The only difference is that those who speak Cantonese use traditional characters rather than simplified characters (which is used by those who speak Mandarin). In this case of "cake", the characters are actually the same in both traditional and simplified characters. There is your language lesson for the day xD Sincerely a Mandarin speaker who lived in Hong Kong (Cantonese speaking country).

honestly... i missed yolanda and this account so much. i started watching HTCI in 2015, right after yo made those rich chocolate cake for valentines day and i am instantly hooked!!xD i remember waiting for new cakes every tuesday (also the video was uploaded every midnight in my timezone) i would get so excited watching new vids from HTCI even though i was very tired and sleepy HAHAHAHA this might seem a little cringey but your videos really helped me get through my hardest days. watching you narrating the process of doing the thing you love (and also very good at) while also having fun with HTCI family have made this channel my safe space. i am beyond grateful to be a small part of this channel. i hope every single one of the HTCI family stays healthy, happy, and safe. cant wait for the next video!!
