Lol. You'd be surprised how often this happens. I do cakes as a side hustle and 90% of the time people want a bigger design than the amount of cake they need for their event. Rather than spending all the extra money and having waaaay more cake than they need they'll opt for some dummy layers so that they don't need to scale down their design.

Most likely what happened was Yo made chocolate cake separately that they cut in the back for everyone to eat separately, so that the cake she decorated could stay intact and be the centerpiece. The real cake layer could then be cut for ceremony in front of everyone. I feel like I’ve seen that done before.
