In this episode, I finally get around to making myself a circle cutting jig for my bandsaw. I must apologise, there are some missing scenes, but you can still see most of the steps.

Great jig! It’s a fantastic little thing that no shop should be without, and you nailed it (so to speak)!

Nice work Chris. If you’re having trouble with Apple Watch accidentally stopping recording, try putting it into “wet” mode. Bring up the control panel (swipe up) and tap the water drop. Now you can’t accidentally tap anything on screen until you scroll the crown on the side. It’s not just for clearing out the speaker.

Cheers mate. I tried the "wet" mode on my watch and it worked like a treat. Thanks for the great tip. You should make some videos on it. I'd certainly watch them.

Nice bandsaw jig, mate. 👍🏽 No need for an elaborate expensive one, after all, it does exactly the same thing. Well done, buddy. 👌🏽

Nice design Chris, using the aluminum t-slot. I like it better than the dovetail method which requires doubles of mating ply. Will give your design a try. Thanks for sharing, cheers 🍻 from Miami, Florida 🇺🇸

Thank you, so glad you like it. And it works like a treat. Hope you have as much fun making it as you do using it. Cheers mate. 🇺🇸🇦🇺🍺🍺👍

Nicely done Chris 😁. I've made a sled for my bandsaw but I think it's about time I made a circle cutting jig.... just like this. I haven't got a dado stack but I guess the router would work just as well 😁. Thanks for the video Chris 😁👍🇬🇧

Apologies for the late reply, Frank. Thanks for watching, and did you make the jig in the end? Cheers mate.

Awesome jig, really like the locking part - don't think I've seen that before ! Truely a must-have jig for any shop.

Cheers mate. I wish I could take the credit for the locking mechanism, but, Paul gets all the credit for it.

Grouse Rig mate, you made it look effortless & described the build process really well. Jigs are great to make & improvise with & it’s a nice part of the thought process that goes with being a Maker 🍻🍻👍👍👍👍

Thanks mate. Wondering when you're gonna make one for your shop. This one is going to get a fair bit of use, that's for sure. And by the way, GFY. LOL

One of my favourite sayings is "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants". It'd be disingenuous to claim 100% of my sled ideas were unique - while I don't think I've seen another one the same, I'm sure the ideas percolated in my mind from all the other jigs and sled I've seen over the years :)

You should check out Paul's channel, he does some fantastic work. That sliding mechanism is pure genius and works like a charm. I'll be trying to incorporate it into future jigs.

Just one question Chris when cutting circles do you use a 3/8" blade in your bandsaw mate or can it be done with a 1/2" blade? Cheers.
@BuiltByChris3 жыл бұрын
I use the ⅜" blade because I can cut really small circles with it. I'm sure that you can use the ½" to good effect as well.

G'day Chris Mate! I have just been writing down ideas inspired by your film with the wonderful Malee Burl pen you made for me. I have used three fillings of ink already. As you are the world's best procrastinator I am second. I want to write my appreciation letter when I get a round to it and you have just shown me how to make a Round Tuit! You can make some fine holes there too! Sadly the cut in the side means it is not quite a 'whole' hole but who is that pernickity? I do like the "Tool Rules" sign on your shop wall by the bandsaw - I need to make one of those for people who see a special jig I have made and got in just the right position for work. They pick it up and say "This is interesting" and then I have to start positioning again! Either make a sign or get a cattle prod! I hope you and yours and your vehicle windscreen survivved the hail as big as gof balls they are talking about on the radio. That will have hammered like Thor's hammer Molnir on your shop roofs! Grouse video Chris, really enjoyed it! Cheers, Eryk 👍🔨👍🔨👌

Always look forward to your comment, Eryk. I'm really glad that you're getting a lot of use from the pen. My mum got me the sign for my workshop, for Christmas. She knows I never lend my tools to anyone and thought the sign said it all. But just between you and me, I have a cattle prod in the corner, just in case people can't read. Those storms missed my area, so no damage, thank goodness. But we did get a lot of rain. I only hope it rained where they really needed it.
@erykfreethinker71474 жыл бұрын
@@BuiltByChris The news here on the radio says that some areas benefited from the rain but some needing it got none. I just hope you and yours and your friends and relatives around the country stay safe. I have a set of spare basic tools that I lend out, they never got the good stuff! You have a wise Mum. Keep that prod hidden from Dirk, he may use it to 'enliven' a certain apprentice he sometimes tutors 😃👍🔨👍🔨
@BuiltByChris4 жыл бұрын
@@erykfreethinker7147 I use that cattle prod on Dirk everytime he comes over. I think he seems to enjoy it.
@erykfreethinker71474 жыл бұрын
@@BuiltByChris The way forward is clear Chris mate;- make a cattle prod as if it is a highly decorative pen and present it to Dirk's wife, if he procrastinates with making her that porch rocking chair she can utilise its full potential! You could make a fortune selling those in the right places. In fact you might struggle to meet supply . . . Have fun Cobber!
