This Crate Coffee Table project was cheap, fun, and easy to make. In this video I go over how I made this Crate Coffee Table. If you want more pics and a description on how I made this, check out my site over at: www.woodlogger.com/

I have been planning on making one of these. I am buying the crates one a week with half off coupons for the craft store so it a lot less expensive and I am purchasing 2 of the crates that have a divider in the middle that can be used as a shelf when placed on its side. Your video makes the process look very uncomplicated. Thank you!

This table arrived well packaged and on time. kzbin.infoUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

do you have the dimensions? I was going to use 3' 1x4s and for the sides i was going to use 3/4 inch plywood at 15 1/2 by 18 in? You use anything like this?

What is the dimension of the center home? Or what size are the slats for the center?

What do you think your total cost was to make this? I'm trying to decide if it would be cheaper to buy the crates already made with store coupons.

Do you sell your handmade crates? If so, how can I order from you? I prefer them to buying the ones online or in craft stores. I realize that your crates may very in size from those found in stores. What size were they and what type of wood did you use?

Michael's has them. Sturdier than the ones at Home Depot in my opinion.

Home Depot’s crates are not so good, but if you order them from target for the same price, that’s a pretty much guarantee they will arrive pretty and undamaged

I don't understand how you can host this as if you came up with the idea. It's pretentious! This design has been around the world for decades and on the internet for years. It's as if you were related to Thomas Edison! Your craftsmanship is great, but next time you document a diy project that has already been done, don't pretend like it's all from out of your own imagination!

Fine, just turn it around instead of actually looking at the issue I mentioned, that makes sense. Hosting an old idea as if it is your own has always been insulting and shameless.

John Ferris i dont know, he never comes out and openly says it was something he came up with, but he never mentions either that this is a project he saw elsewhere either so i can see how someone can say he claims credit for it. I mean he does say he made 4 crates with the intentions of making a coffee table.
