Making a cup or a mug from start to finish is one of the most satisfying things a potter can do. This is my step by step process that I take to making my cups on the pottery wheel.

I just realised now that clay throwing is basically earthbending...so, that means you are an earthbender! I loved watching your process. It is truly magical how your hands work with the clay and shape it.

I love your videos! And what a perfect timing for the video. I am throwing my first ever commission work of mugs today and I am feeling quite nervous. This gave me some tips on how to make my life a bit easier :D

Been in clay over a decade and have given the "water sealing" method for trimming a go lately--I'm somewhat obsessed! Not having to use the lugs is quite freeing. Thanks for giving me the confidence to try a fun new technique :)

Yeah it’s honestly amazing. Works well with wider pieces if you’re having trouble getting the knack

thanks for your videos. very helpful! question: do you clean up at all after glazing? I get those drip marks and little “dings” from touch up. thanks again!

it’s just a speckled stoneware! It’s grogged but grog doesn’t always equal speckle, it’s usually just sand

I love how little water you use! I end up with loads of clay water which is a real problem - even with new clay. A skill I must work on ….

Great video! I was curious, what was the size of your cylinder after throwing? I feel I'm always not throwing thin enough :p
@MaeCeramics
@MaeCeramics 3 ай бұрын
From memory around 8cm h x 9 or 10cm wide
