Cool project Andy. That's a great idea and makes it much more user friendly if you ever need to get in there again. (When you do - haha)

It's the little things we appreciate down the road. Hopefully I'll never need to get back in there, but if I do....... :)

Andy take a look at a lower shifter boot seal for a fox body, what it does is provides a dust / water splash shield so water cant get inside your car. hurst shifter boot looks great but it isn’t a good enough seal for water the boot goes on the tunnel with a good gasket to keep elements out then put your hurst shifter back on and knock out some more noise also. You will thank me later.

Thanks for the heads up, but I only drive the car when it's nice out, so water is not an issue. :)

Tip for when you need to mark and drill holes through the carpet. Mark carpet with a sharpie then use a soldering pencil to burn a hole through the carpet creating a tunnel through the carpet free of carpet strands.

Yeah, that's a great tip. You're not going to like it when I reference doing something like that in a later video, but elect to still do it the hard way. I won't tell you what video it is, you'll just have to watch all of them. I'll give you a hint though, it came after this video. :)

I am at this point, the algorithm knows all. Which Hurst boot # is this Andy?

Another solution is to use a 69-70 Ford boot/trim ring - it has a larger footprint to clear the T5 shifter. They come in Hurst (square hold) or 3-Speed (round hole)

Maybe, but it doesn't solve the issue where I have to try to find the holes if I ever need to get in there. There are already several holes from people getting in there over the years, but now I have a mount plate designed for the boot. :)

You need to install electric power steering so you can show us how to do this. :-)
