A few comments. Never use MDF or use beveled joints. Why? Because if you ever drop one or have it fall over you can continue its trip to the dumpster. Additionally they are super heavy. I use 2x2 interior framing with a 1/4" or 3/8" sanded plywood and butt joint them. Much more durable and lighter weight. And, if you ever want to resize one to a smaller size it is easier. Any one over a 24x24 is made with 1/2" plywood. Simple wood glue and nail gun work fine for assembly. My credentials for saying this are that I have my MFA is Sculpture, ran a college gallery for 20 years while teaching gallery practices. In my later years I am currently an installer for 3 high end galleries and still am active at my old colleges gallery.

You can actually use 1/2" MDF. It's lighter and still strong enough. Instead of glue, I use a finishing nailer. It's even easier and faster.

The person I made these for travels to shows. These are carted around a lot, and see a fair amount of natural wear and tear. I personally would not trust the longevity of 1/2 MDF with just pneumatic quality finishing nails under those conditions.

Great video! What thickness of MDF do you use? If you were to paint and prime them do you have a recommended primer and white paint?

I used 3/4 MDF for these. For primer across the board I like Kilz it is available just about everywhere as well, which makes it extra convenient. I can't really attest to the longevity of paint because I make things and then someone else owns them. However, I have yet to get a call back for failed paint. I have used everything from Sherwin Williams to Walmart Brand. Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore are premium grade paints but can be expensive if you don't go during one of there seasonal sales. Got a gallon for a built in I did a few months ago and it was 60.00. I also, really like Behr, it is a little more affordable then the previous two and it is available from Home Depot. I prefer that over the brand carried by Lowe's.

Awesome! What kind of glue would you recommend?

I use Titebond III in my shop mainly because it is the most waterproof of the three Titebond's, has a longer open time for bigger glue ups, and can be used at colder temperatures (45 degrees), but you could make this with regular grade wood glue or Titebond II. The big key is to make sure there is plenty of glue on the joints because MDF absorbs it like a sponge.

Is there a way to to make these hold 110 pounds ? , I feel like it would be too hollow for that amount of weight

Making these out of 3/4 MDF should be fine. I weight 150 and was sitting on them without a problem, good compression strength.

Do you have the list of materials you used for the 24X24x24

I do not, but you can make one of those out of a single sheet of 3/4 MDF with plenty to spare.
