Hi We Build Stuff, Your video was absolutely inspiring for me and gave me the final motivation I needed to build my own arcade cabinet. I must say that this is my first big "professional" wood work and it took me some days, because I wanted to make things right, but at the end I'm very proud with the result. All of my friends and family are very impressed as well, because although I don't have many of the tools you use on the video I managed to cut, drill and mill the borders of wood to produce a nice arcade. Didn't painted it yet and the marquee is missing as well, but I feel very happy each time I use it, and that's thanks to you. Btw, I used your measures and they worked quite perfect, but the side panel layout didn't worked for me, not sure if it was the way I printed it so at the end I made all the measures by hand ;)

I'm planning on doing another build video but with only simplier tools (what I consider simple) for those that don't have access to a shop. Basically substituting the "tablesaw and bandsaw" for a "skillsaw and a jigsaw"

I'm using your directions to make my own bartop arcade(btw thanks), the only thing i would change is putting the (#10 NC T-nuts) on the opposite side of the support. I was having the problem where the T-nuts was pulling off. Putting them on the opposite side it pulls the t-nut into the support piece holding it even stronger. Also getting a more plush fit.
@WeBuildStuff7 жыл бұрын
I'm doing that for my latest build. The issue I'm having is when I unscrew the #10 bolts the t-nuts fall out the back due to gravity and the teeth aren't gripping the wood the way I want. I might try some adhesive to hold them in better.
@dustinschings70428 жыл бұрын
Awesome builds! You mentioned that you only open it now to hook up a keyboard. You should think about adding a USB header/extension to the side of the cabinet next to reset and volume controls.

Looks like you blew the back out of the MDF on some of those button holes that you showed towards the end. Flip the MDF over and do a quick hit with the drill bit before drilling all the way through on the other side and that will prevent that stuff. Great video, but I would recommend using zero delay usb boards instead of the GPIO as it makes everything a lot easier to wire/manage. You can pretty much plug any button in wherever you like on the board along with the stick and retropie/recal box will simply detect everything as a USB controller.

ZaPpaul the gpio was just for this build since at the time the encoders I had were not compatible.
