Thanks. Anyway, this is only vumeter, not spectrum analyzer, so it seems strange to have the columns organized like that.

Each column (strip of LEDs) is wired in parallel in this video, so the signal from the controller is controlling every column same way. That's why this demo doesn't look like a spectrum alalyser. To wire this up so each column can be controlled independently you need to wire the data line in series. The power lines (the outside two wires) can be wired from either end (or both ends for really long strips) but the data line should go from the controller to the first strip and be soldered to the end with the white arrow pointing "in", then wired from that same strip's "out" end (the white arrow pointing out), then from there back into the next strip's "in" end, then out from the same strip's "out" end into the next strip's "in" end, and so on. Freeze at 1:21 to see how this video shows the wrong wiring. Keep in mind that the SP107E controller shown here also cannot actually be used as a spectrum analyser ait doesn't properly divide frequencies and so cannot generate the values needed for the display. You would need to find another solution for that even after the correct wiring is set up. Hope that makes sense to anyone confused by the wiring shown here. If that's still confusing have a look at the following video that shows that even with the proper wiring the SP107E can't display an audio spectrum.kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipfLqGRteKain6s

I had no idea it was that easy. wow. I should have invented that little module myself; I was looking for something more complicated, dang. Off to Ebay. Thanks this helps. I have built these really sweet book shelf speakers and had them hooked up to a PC sound system. The main unit has the ported base speaker type of thing. I went and built an LED VU meter; simple 7 LED device. It worked great. I was thinking of adding one of these to each speaker. I played around with it for a month or so, never driving it too hard for fear the ohms were not correct. Then one day after extended play, walked in the room and the system was dead. Figures right? I looked up the Transistors and found the exact, almost exact amplifier on line, and ordered it. I tested it and it works reasonably well, not sure about the base, but it was not in a ported box. kind of distorted base. speaker jumps all over if I crank the base. question is what caused the previous amp to fail? the LED lights, wrong ohm speakers, all of the above, or just old age. how does adding LED lights to the speakers affect the amp? Is this doable? or this module that you have shown here can it be directly connected to an amplifier? Guess I'll figure it out. Thanks for this cool tip. I like it. nice job.

You've incorrectly wired the strips! those strips have an input and output what you have done is wired all the strips inputs to the controller. What you should have done is wire the first strips input to the controller then wire the first strips output to the second strips input and repeat for all strips.

In my whole life never seen such connection for any kind of addressable LEDS... why would anyone connect led strips in parallel with same data in to all strips ?? then whats the purpose of Individually adressable LEDS... under-estimating the power of both neopixels and the controller SP107E also which can control over 960 neopixels .. in this case controling 0nly 19 LEDS [ yes only 19 not 19x10 coz all connected in parallel }... and that too neo pixels are costly ...better to use single colour led with dot/bar display llm3914/15/16 for this simple effects ... very misleading video with wrong connections .. the right way for the entire setup and make this video usefu would be only to have S or Z connections which would be difficult at all just desolder and again solder Dout of one strip in to Din of the other. and you would have a perfect sound to lights synchronizer [i wouldnt call it spectrum coz its not frequency dependent ]... SP107E supports S type connection... but even you do Z type connection you will have different visualisations in wrong direction in alternate strips but will create nice effects .... keep experimenting ..
@martynaslukas43404 жыл бұрын
I've never tested it, but isn't it to send data to all columns in parallel? As I said, I've never tested it. The controller looks like of the shelf and if you would connect in series then it would be a custom project with a custom MCU. Then you would need to specify LEDs per column etc... That's my thought
@giancarlobregante39184 жыл бұрын
Hello Ritesh. I use to use these RGB LED (Woldsemi WS2812B) strips on many projects and is perfectly possible to connect them in series or parallel, because the way they were designed. If you connect them in parallel, like this project, all the strips will have same colors on all strips. I understand it should be better to have one LED strip per frequency.
