Oh you guys beat me to it.....great job nevertheless. Quick tip for you guys and this can serve you to stop the camera specially if you don't have a crew of 3 persons. 1- At the end of your rope or cable make a V neck to slow down the rig. 2- use electrical tape and wrap it around the cable near the end where you want the rig to stop. Make it in a way that is gradually growing so to speak, to make it take the shape of a funnel. Like I said if you are a one man team, this will help you not to brake your camera

Another idea would be to fix an elastic cord on both the camera and the upper tree (like in bungee jumping)

Superb video guys! Liked how you assembled your small wheeled carriage and experimented with different methods to get the right look. Some tips: Clothes line steel wire is coated with plastic and very strong, so the run will be quieter. Certainly, your custom-made cable would be longer than a clothesline, and more useful. I bet yours was pricey and heavier. The other tip is stopping the sliding rig. If you have ever been on a true zip line, there is a loose cable with an eyelet that slides just before the endpoint, about 10 to 15 feet before the final stop to slow people, or in your case, your rig zooming down the line. With a buddy controlling it, this would be a safer way to slow and stop your flying rig versus how you're doing it now (12:41). You could then hang it higher too! Hope this helps! Cheers! Frederic in Montréal.

7:02 and that's exactly why I'm making this suggestion. Look at using Dyneema rope. Very low stretch and very strong for it's weight. A lot of winches are now coming with Dyneema and the marine industry is moving to Dyneema rope. Also no 7:02

Just a word about the physics... Please make a version 2.0 of this. The metal strip should be about 3 times as long which reduces sagging of the line and stabelizes the Camera in the moving direction. Then you should ad another pulli somewhere around the middle of the metal strip. The lone goes under-over-under. The makes the cam put tension on the line an the pullis which stops the rattling. Other than that... This is great am I am gonna build it this weekend!

maybe a reel of fishing line would be an upgrade to the current braking system? Possibly with a little motor to wind it back up if you want to get fancy. But just putting a safety line on the thing and running behind it would have worked too.

You can make a break for it with a bored out piece of rubber tied to a rope, or something similar. When the trolley hits the rubber, you can use the rope to slow down the momentum at a much more gradual pace.

@@TMSProductions I think I might have found a solution. It is called a ZLP spring brake. It says you should only use it on zip lines 100 ft or less but in your case you're not having people go down it you're having a 15 lb rig which should be perfect. Hopefully this Just gives you guys a starting place to look for the perfect solution. You basically put it over the cable and when the gimbal hits it it will coil up. www.ziplinestop.com/products/zlp-zip-line-trolley-spring-stop-brake
