Yes. Masterfully done Sir. Your background in painting wargaming miniatures shows. Undercoating for Color/ Base Over coat/ blending/ drybrush/ Your attention to that small miniature detail, really showcases when implemented to a large subject. Still cant get over the chosen media of foam. Must confess way better than paper maché.

Thank you very much! Foam is just so much easier, cleaner, and lighter to work with. But since a lot of what I do is costume related foam holds up waaaay better over time. And will give better results. But to each their own. I’ve been working with it for a long time and can make foam look like skin, metal, wood, and leather

20:43 Thoroughly enjoyed your series but this paint tutorial has been excellent. Rarely get such a detailed breakdown and for a novice it is invaluable. Especially one that likes to understand the decision making so they can learn rather than mimic. As for the eyes. Second time I've said I'm clumsy but ... latex peels off glass and most plastics. It makes for a really good and precise cover for eyes when spraying or painting around them. Tip from Allen Hopps - Stiltbeast Studios. Credit where it belongs, always!

Your color palate is superb! I would have never thought to put those colors together and they look just right. I don't know if I could make a dragon head but your instructions make me want to try.

As always, watching your paint jobs come to life is some of the best prop and cosplay content on the internet! Thanks Steve! If you're looking for suggestions for another project, i'm currently playing through Spider-Man 2 on PS5, and the symbiote suit has some really amazing and slimy looking textures, that might be a cool finish to recreate, maybe just his mask? Or Venom..if you're still feeling 'toothy' after this build!

Sometimes I wonder if you double the weight of your props with all the layers of paint. **Laughs** Yours came out amazing, Steve. I've been a bit stymied by the cold weather. Had to bring all of my paints and things into the house before they froze, as my shop isn't adequately insulated. Plus I ordered more of your foam clay and it got delayed by the weather. Looks like we might be getting a break this week and I have a few days off. Hopefully I can get a few more details done and get some paint on before the cold comes back. Love your passion and your art, sir. You're my hero. Thank you!

1:13 If you are clumsy like me, heat the foil with heat gloves on. Then, you don't have to worry about adding more heat to the foam and removing the texture. Tip came from Van Oaks Props.
@SKSPropsАй бұрын
Only works for a more etched look I’ve used it for years both ways on foam “metals”. But if you want a deeper embossed look gotta heat the foam itself Check out my gears of war or Elden ring armor sets

@SKSProps I will thank you. I'm so new to using EVA as a primary material that I'm trying to get my head around things. First step, find great teachers 😉

It looks like you added a piece behind the horns sort of a partial neck to help mount it. Am I seeing that right or did I miss something? Love this dragon by the way! I made five large ones with light up eyes for a stage production and now I’m making one for a friend with all the realistic details. Thank you!
