This press has worked like a charm for my projects kzbin.infoUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn't even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It's not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won't be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don't have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with.This was an excellent purchase for $40!!

When the pressure arm is from the side, the drill bit slips to the left while drilling. If you make the pressure arm from the middle of the rails above the engine, it works more easily.

Agree. also the drawer rails usually have some play. Better to mount them vertically perpendicular (one in the front and other one to left or right), than in parallel to each other to reduce that play.

На 20:30 отчетливо видно уход оси сверления с вертикали при надавливании на рычаг. Так сказать люфт есть. А если бы шариковые направляющие разместить на некотором удалении друг от друга, например 50-60 мм, то, вероятно, люфт бы исчез. Или рычаг сделать другим, двойным, чтоб нагрузка была на обе стороны. Но в целом, можно и так оставить, все равно там все комплектующие сами по себе не являются точными.

Nice build, but I suspect the motor's bearings are for tangential loads rather than axial ones. Lowering the rpm with a belt/pulley system would increase the torque and remove the axial load

I think the design is quite simple, but the accuracy can be improved further, because when you install the motor you don't measure it first to make sure it is perpendicular to the base.

interesante, pero visualmente se puede ver que existe una desviación al presionar y eso hace que la broca se caliente, y distorsione la forma cilindrica del la perforación, mi propuesta en usar dos rieles en la base de la columna pero en los laterales para corregir.
