Also the pinking shears also help with the fabric from fraying. So that is actually a really great idea to use those for your strips of fabric throughout the tutu. I like this idea :-) Thanks for the video

Have you always used an elastic band? I’ve seen some people use ribbon or a crochet headband material. Do you know if the elastic band works better?
@MKTUTUS4 жыл бұрын
Hi yes i personally dont like the crochet bands because if you tie too tight they will stretch and loose the elasticity. Ive never had problems with the elastic

How do you launder this tutu? Cold water handwash and air dry?
@MKTUTUS2 жыл бұрын
Hi you would need to handwash as the tulle does not wash well & will get ruined in the washer/dryer. Hang Dry

How do you figure out how many strips of fabric/tulle to cut for each tutu? Thanks!
@kayleighcormack46086 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have a question from Aberdeenshire Scotland 🙂 I currently have a business making tutus and costumes but only using tulle I’m making my first fabric tutu but when I cut my fabric it just seems to ‘shred’ like the thread is coming out etc is there a best way to cut fabric to stop this happening ? Thank you x
@MKTUTUS6 жыл бұрын
Hello from California! thanks for watching. I would recommend using a rotary cutter. Ive noticed if my scissors aren't sharp enough it will cause the fabric to shred. I have also in the past sealed my ends with a lighter just like you would with ribbon. Just be sure to not let it touch the fabric as it will burn. Just a quick pass . Good luck with your business :)
@sagasamok6 жыл бұрын
You could also try using scissors that cut in a zig zag

Do you use the glitter canvas for the shirts? If so, where could I buy it? I ordered some from punkglitter, I think! I don’t remember the exact name, but it smells like a kettle or rotten fish!!! Please and ty for your response 😀

@MKTUTUS7 жыл бұрын
Hi Glad i could helo ;) I bought 1/2 yard of each color for the tutorial & had a lot left over. If you go with 1/2 yard you can easily make 2 tutus out of it :)

How did you attach the elastic together?
@MKTUTUS7 жыл бұрын
Hi I used my sewing machine to sew the ends together. You can use a needle & thread or ive seen people use glue, but recommend using thread as it will hold together better :) A simple back & fourth stitch will hold.
@11wonderchild7 жыл бұрын
You can use those crochet headbands instead of elastic.

Honey Toombs hahah, thanks. Its actually not that easy they are a bit difficult. I'm very picky when it comes to straight lines & these for sure don't do that lol. At the end you cant tell anyhow. I did practice a bit on scraps as well, which I highly suggest :)
