There's a different type of painter's tape that might work better. Artists use it to mask off areas on canvases and it's never bled for me, but I've never used it on foam. I'd check an art supply store like Blick (Michael's has never had it when I've gone looking for it). I can't remember the exact name of the tape, but it's white instead of blue. Hope this helps

Try frog tape, the green stuff.

@@ShuTheIdiot Frog Tape is best. The off-brand painter's tape either bleeds through or it tears paint off - never had any issues with Frog Tape (Used it for painting a large room, and it kept the paint off of the areas on the wall we did not need paint on without bleed through.)

When masking off the green, paint a thin layer of green on the edge first. This will seal it and leave you with perfect clean lines every time.

Watching these videos is always a treat. But for the advice about painters tape, when you want to put it on put a little of the paint that is being painted over on the edge. Any kind of dust, and particulates also can screw up the garbage seal of painters tape. Hope this advice from a painters son helps. And keep up the top tier work.

When masking, lay down either a clear color or the color under first. That will create a seal as it were so that the next paint won't seep through.

Hay Jake so when I mask stuff I like to run a silicone tip paint brush along any edge that I realy don't want paint under and sometimes hit it for 3 seconds with a heat gun

Ya know I've done that in the past and it does work in terms of solidifying a prop, but I like my props to have some flex just in case they get knocked off a shelf or something. I've just seen so many solid props shatter.
