Oh I love this one! I think I know what I’m gonna do with all this “manly” fabric I’ve been collecting now. Wahoo. Thanks Miss Di. I have to say I started using the HST paper because my hands have taken a beating cutting fabric lately. I was blown away how easy it is to make them now…and there’s no squaring up once you cut them. So this quilt you made for your brother is perfect for me to use with the papers. Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial. I just love it. Have a most marvelous weekend…I always look forward to seeing what you are making next. 🤗

? Loved your video top to the bottom that will come! ? Question is going to be my first quilt is going to be a Queen bed cover that my heart is set not on typical quilt shapes but a nature scene with a cliff, full length waterfall trees and maybe a lake or river. Would like to piece it then quilt it on a brother sew/quilting machine. I have collected lots of material and tools but I remain stumped to the artsy part of my Hope's and dreams... Ideas??
@sisterchicksquilting
@sisterchicksquilting 2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you know exactly what you want. I would strt with peicing the large areas, water fall, lake & trees as a base. Then you might applique details on top of the base. That is what I would do, I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

@@sisterchicksquilting Thks for a start with piecing a background full. I omitted by age at 61 but more my accident and decades of surgery leaves me a bit timid over the applicay needle and thread. It's like make practice smaller quilts sounds good until my life leaves little free wall space and most people are now moved on... So now it will be time to figure out how to fit and piece that out of this world nature scene - thinking of squared blocks and triangles can be so much easier. Never seem to take the easy path in life!!!

That is how I mark seams that go together when I pick up a row to sew. I fold the blocks RST and place matching pins at the other seams. This allows me to take up an entire row and sew it together correctly in one sitting. Black Cuddle’s on the back. I’m showing the finished quilt in my Q&A video next Friday. Thank you for watching😍❣️

Absolutely gorgeous!! You pointed to them on the wall and said this is where the fold is (pointing at a seam) then you mentioned another fold. I couldn't be anymore baffled as to what on earth you're talking about????A fold on a seam?? 🧐 I've got to make this for my son in-law.
@sisterchicksquilting
@sisterchicksquilting 2 жыл бұрын
I was talking about folding the block over (right sides together) onto the block next to it so I could sew them together. I pick up an entire row that way and take it to the machine. Then when all the blocks, right sides together are sewen...I use the colored pins, facing the same direction, to match the seams I wasn't able to fold together. If this doesn't help, contact me through my website and we'll chat. www.sisterchicksquilting.com Thank you for watching and Maywood Studios has some beautiful, manly, flannel out there in the quilting universe.
